A box sat outside room 409, a note pinned next to the big red ribbon that sat atop the brightly wrapped present.
Long time no see. Or I suppose write seeing as this is a letter and we are not actually seeing each other…
No matter. Merry Christmas, dear. I apologize for this being a day late, but I dare not venture out when others are shopping. It looks something akin to a terror out there with the shops packed to the brink.
Where was I? Ah, yes. Inside are two presents and I truly hope you like them. I don’t know why but the slippers reminded me of you. The necklace was an interesting find. I don’t mean to make things too serious on such a joyous holiday, but just know that if you ever think you have lost your way, I’m here, just one call - or whisper- away.
{The inscription on the back reads, “Not all those that wander are lost.}
Merry Christmas, love. I wish you the best with the coming new year.
Thank you for the present. I shall wear it often.
Luna smiled brightly at the sight of the present. She picked it up and brought it inside her home. The present was placed on the small dining table as she detached the note, her eyes reading the written words. She immediately took out her notebook and placed the note inside for safekeeping.
She opened the present, giving out a soft chuckle at the sight of the penguin slippers. “Aww…” She dropped the slippers on the floor and put it on, wiggling her toes with a grin. She picked up the necklace, her fingers running over the metal pendant. Tao’s written words came to mind. She was glad she met a lot of wonderful people this year.
