a concept: stiles comes back and is really mad about being kept out of the loop until lydia has her own "if you die i'll literally go out of my freakin' mind" esque speech and he softens immediately and kisses her because god DAMN lydia martin finally loves him as much as he's always loved her and knowing that for sure is well worth being kept in the dark for a few months

1/2 OKAY so before they changed it last season, sheriff had an interaction with a banshee the night claudia died, right? like he was at the scene of an accident, and this girl flat out told him to leave her and go to his wife because she was dying. PERSONALLY i think lydia had an older sister, and she's the banshee who the sheriff talked to that night. so basically stiles and lydia both lost someone very close to them within minutes of each other.
2/2 stiles would have been in third grade when his mom passed, which is the same time he got a crush on lydia. i think he was drawn to her because of their shared loss? like, no one else understood what he was going through, but she did. and they found comfort in each other in that grief. he saw a deeper side of her then, which is why he never gave up on her. though lydia eventually iced over, when she needed comfort again, REAL comfort, she went right back to the boy who’d helped her before
