Necromancer thoughts.
Ok, y’all have heard Necromancer stories but - but let me introduce a thought.
Main Character doesn’t know they’re a necromancer, or have the ability to bring people back from the dead anyhow. But, they are a very kind person, and are always the first to comfort someone when a loved one passes.
He knows how it feels, and is so compassionate by his disposition - but also because his own partner passed when their relationship was still newly blossomed. They didn’t have the time together that he had forseen... Regardless, he promised to keep their memory alive and speaks of them to other people, writes about them, all they can do to keep them with him.
So, he learns to help guide others through their pain. But one day, something changes. Every time he talks with someone of the memory of their loved one, or comforts them in their grief, the person they lost ends up not being dead. It’s not like they came back as a zombie and everyone freaks out - it’s like he wakes up the next day and it’s as if nothing happened except for “a scare”. Even if there was a full-blown funeral, the next day, it’s like that funeral never occurred and all anyone remembers is, “Oh yes, so-and-so had an accident!” or “so-and-so had a scare, so glad they’re alright!”
And of course, he’s relieved! They’re not dead! And eventually, links it to himself, because he’s the only one that remembers. He is quite literally keeping people’s memory alive, by erasing the worst of it as if it never happened. He feels so blessed to have this power!
But there’s a catch.
Where is his lover? How is it fair that he can bring so many others back, and yet he must continue on with barely a wedded life to remember, a tragically lost spouse, left grieving and mourning on his own...
What is the difference? How did the NecroManSir gain this power, and why does it not work for his own pain??
