@taylorswift much has been written and said about the forgotten generation. Those swifties that are a bit older, yet still admire you and hope some day to be able to tell you the impact you have had on our lives. We are the same swifties that aren’t able to be online all the time, that aren’t often able to donate hours to making videos (I’m a teacher and on summer break right now), who won’t walk up to you if we see you out in public and interrupt because we value your privacy and wouldn’t want someone to do that to us. We love you just the same and we celebrate every milestone, every high and every low, we defend and support you tirelessly. We dig into your Easter eggs and marvel at how your brain works. We talk to each other about how we often feel over looked, how just hanging out with you, drinking wine, baking and playing scrabble while having deep discussions about life or dancing around like goofballs would be the best party ever. I was writing this post a few weeks ago and decided maybe you would like to see our faces. So here we are, with our names and twitter handles. I hope you love this even half as much as we love you.

Hey Taylor!

It seems many fans are doing their intros tonight so thought I’d do mine!  I’m an OG Swiftie.  I’ve loved you since Our Song made its way into my head and I screamed it out the window while driving late at night with friends.  I dreamt of seeing you on tour one day and when the 1989 tour came to LA it was as if the skies opened up and happiness poured down around me.  I went with a friend, Kristin, who I literally never see unless the event has to do with you or Hilary Duff.  She’s the best Swiftie pal.  We went to 1989 at Staples, the night Ellen came out for Style and we went to Reputation at The Rose Bowl when you brought Selena out.  The Reputation tour was a really hard night for me.  I was in the worst place mentally but thanks to Swifties on Tumblr, they convinced me to go and as always you put the biggest smile on my face.  I bottled up the joy you brought me that night and opened the bottle to bring forward good memories when I wound up in the hospital the next weekend.

I’ve loved growing up with you and having you be such an influence in my life.  Relating so closely to you with the lyrics you share from your vibrant heart.  Songs like ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’, ‘All Too Well’, ‘Fifteen’, ‘Welcome to New York’, and most recently, ‘Long Live.’  I was diagnosed with Melanoma in January of this year.  I was so scared.  I was diagnosed the week of my 30th birthday party.  I kept it under-wraps as I felt ashamed and I still haven’t been super out spoken about it.  Every 3 months I have a checkup and hold my breath to see if it’s back.  Long Live became my unspoken anthem for this time in my life.  I have a scar now which reminds me of something which tried to take control of my life and when I listen to Long Live I feel such a powerful force overcome the fear and it reminds me to stay in the moment and to keep ‘crashing’ through the walls life puts up for me.

My life used to be much simpler.  I haven’t always had to ‘wear my football helmet’ and go to war with my inner demons.  No matter what horrible thoughts roll through my mind your songs and lyrics are always there.  I can get lost in your songs and my mind shifts from stormy clouds to warm sunshine spreading through me.  I’ve been in the hospital 6 times now and a lengthy stay in a residential treatment center which felt like I was completely trapped.  I made sure to spread the Swiftie love by playing your songs and music videos in sessions to bring smiles to everyone’s face.  I still cling to life sometimes lost in thoughts of everyone is far better off without me and how peaceful it would be to float off in my sleep.  I dream of being able to afford tuition to go back to school to become a therapist to help others and free myself from a job I endure being yelled at on a daily basis.  And in the throws of hate and darkness, you give me moments in life to look forward to.  New songs to fill my heart with joy.  Tours to unite Swifties together to celebrate you and all you’ve given to us.  Swag which allows us to embrace ourselves with love.  Thank you for helping give me life, Taylor.  You are the most wonderful human being with a heart of rainbows spreading love, hope, and joy to all you touch.  You’re the best cat mom to Olivia, Meredith, and Benjamin Button.  You inspire me to be the best mom I can be to my Bella.  Please, please continue to write and invite us along for the ride.  Love you, @taylorswift!
