I love the difference between Buffy earlier and later seasons cuz the early seasons are like "there's a demon in Sunnydale but it's okay because Buffy and her friends defeat it with the power of friendship!!!" And the later seasons are like "Buffy is depressed again so here's a whole episode of her just having a mental crisis and oh no one of her friends just died again"

You could make a joke that Buffy just wants to be LEFT ALONE GODDAMMIT, but that cutaway to the empty mirror-- no vampires, no drama, no magic in that frame of glass, THAT is her mirror of erised right there.
