“Soda, is there a point to this?”

“I’m just  - four years of Elsewhere, it’s going to be weird going back to the real world. This time last year, I didn’t think I’d even be graduating.”

“Well, if there’s a ‘most improved’ award for college, I think it goes to you.”

“…and it turned out I was actually dating Not-Gemina, and Real Gemina wants nothing to do with me.”

“That sucks so much.”

“It happens. Speaking of relationships! Soda, are you and Bippity keeping up after graduation?”

“We’re going to try. It would be a lot easier if we were in the same city, but I looked it up and it’s only about three hours drive, so I’ll be able to come over for the weekends.”

“That’s better than I thought, actually. I’d hate to see you guys break up over going long distance.”

“So would I.”

“It’s okay professor, I had my salt.”

“You handled the interruption well. The research was clearly very thorough, I was impressed.”

“Yes! Yes, tha - I really appreciate it, that would be amazing!”

“It’s cool, I, uh, can’t remember yours either. You need something?”

“I was studying with the window open and the wind did this weird thing? It grabbed my textbook, and I just found it, but it’s on top of the lamppost and I can’t knock it off and I have class in like half an hour - please don’t think I’m crazy.”

“No, I totally get it. Where?”

“I really appreciate this. I’m Bippity, by the way.”

“I’m Soda.”

“What did you get on the midterm?”

“Ninety-seven.”

“No fucking way. Did you make a Deal or something? You’re leaving me in the dust!”

“…Can you keep a secret?”

“You didn’t.”

“I tried.”

“Soda, what the hell were you thinking?!”

“I know, it was a stupid idea. I got drunk, I started thinking about my future, and I panicked. But he didn’t even take anything and when I woke up I realized how stupid it was and I guess it kind of scared me straight.”

“It was a fucking idiotic idea is what it was.”

“I’m not going to do it again.”

trade! - what does Lena do when she can't sleep? Does it happen often? Does she drink caffine, or does it muck up her functioning?

Insomnia and nightmares are both a fact of life for her, among with others on the base. However, it should be said that they're not always consistent - Lena will go through bouts of insomnia, or nightmares, or other sleep interruptions once every couple of months. These bouts can typically last for 2-4 days, depending, and can range from minor disturbances, waking up and falling back asleep again, all the way up to absolute denial of sleep, either intentionally or not.

Typically when it's more extreme, Lena won't even try to go to bed, She'll usually get up, wander the base. If she's awake enough, she'll go for a run to at least shake things out a little. Otherwise, it's a cup of caffeinated tea and finding things to keep her hands busy. Usually the accelerator is on a low power mode at this point, so she avoids pushing it in any way. Maybe she'll paint, or watch TV, or work on one of the many little side projects she typically has going at any time.

Caffeine doesn't affect her in any abnormal ways. She doesn't drink a lot of it unless she needs it, usually after a late night or if she's working for a long time. Usually she'll drink it in her tea, but she's not above the occasional energy drink or cup of coffee depending on the resources/context.
