Was there tension during the anthology? I've heard people say that but I never saw it, maybe it's just me? I thought they all had a great time, obviously it was weird cause John wasn't there though
i think there’s some of both–george looks a little…done in some bits. there’s also the matter of him not wanting to finish work on a final song, again, by that point i think he was tired. didn’t he make a remark about it really not being the same thing without john there in a sort of “what’s the point” kind of manner? i also have read (if i’m remembering right, from that “behind the locked door” book which i had…some issues with but that’s another conversation) but from other places too, that his main motivation for doing the project was that he could use a cash boost, plain and simple (he wasn’t doing so hot at the time). otherwise, i’m quite certain he wouldn’t have been in a great hurry to rehash a very sensitive and rather painful time of his life (and didn’t he throw a hissy bc the original title was “the long and winding road” and he didn’t want it to be named after a paul song? i think that’s a clue of what we’re working with here)
but i also think there are times when you get a glimpse of some genuine joy and contentment on his end. perhaps parts of it surprised even him. also, i doubt he was comfortable with all the cameras on him so it could be just a natural unease w/ that too.
