His attempt to make her feel better had a visible effect. Aliena seemed far less concerned, far less nervous now. She still appeared a bit embarrassed though, probably because of her prior reaction. Her words sounded more positive now, and she actually seemed to warm up to the thought of showing him her home.
She already moved towards the door, so she couldn’t spot the little smile on his face. He liked to see her carefree, her jauntiness, her cheerful anticipation. Naivety was a weakness and a dangerous one. But in her case … It seemed like some kind of spell he didn’t know and didn’t even understand. He barely knew the musician and still he only needed to watch her to feel a little … lighter.
Salvadore stopped the musing when she told him an interesting detail. Someone waited for her. He felt a certain … discontentment about this fact. Did she live with a friend? Her partner? He had hoped to be alone with her.
Of course he didn’t show how little he liked the thought of sharing her attention when they would talk about their music, their magic ...
He followed her, closed the door behind them, renewed the spell, and left the lead to Aliena when they were back on the street.
“So you don’t live alone? Won’t our music disturb your … uh roommate?” He tried to let his voice sound as casual as possible.
