I know paulbot shippers are always like "but ~*~babylon~*~" whenever people talk about other drumbot ships, but do you remember who's known drumbot longest? OUR QUEEN, ZHU MING!!! I also am guilty of forgetting Zhu Ming because I'm so focused on the band's found family vibes and she tends to keep herself apart (and that's ignoring the Doylian fact that the actor is too big to be able to show up for more than a couple episodes at a time). Which, you know, good! Some professional distance is actually healthy!

But how did Zhu Ming know to direct Jon and Paul to that storage unit? What else does she know about Drumbot?

Oooo and then there's that tantalizing moment when they're about to open for Bet Your Bottom and Drumbot is glitching and Zhu Ming is the one to fix it so it's well enough to perform.... Nothing sexier than getting elbow-deep in someone's innards amirite?

A, J, K, and L for Chrysi and Despair?

A, affliction: Was there a quality about your f/o that held you back from starting a relationship?

Welllllll, there was the whole “vicious murderous guy that she met on the street” thing at the beginning. Despair had made it very clear at the beginning that he wasn’t afraid to cause harm to others if he felt like it. Chrysi wasn’t a huge fan of that—but once Despair proved that he could use that viciousness to protect others (thinking about how in canon, he let that girl go and killed those muggers AAAAAA), she decided she might be able to fall for him. 

Basically, his vague moral code worried Chrysi a lot and she refused to feel things for him until she felt he was... somewhat safe to be around. He’s still not safe to be around, but Chrysi’s an exception to the rule. She’s the safest she’ll ever be when she’s with him. 

J, jaded: How cynical are you and your f/o about things? (Not necessarily about the relationship)

OIDSJFGOISFJGOSDIF I MEAN?? MY GUY CALLS HIMSELF THE KING OF DESPAIR. I’D SAY PRETTY JADED. He doesn’t generally believe in the good things of the world lasting. Everything is ephemeral and he’s going to lose it all in the end anyway. Why bother opening up to it when it’s only going to hurt him eventually? 

Chrysi’s actually also pretty jaded, but she puts on a front at times. She’ll act really happy, but she’s got a deep existential dread that sometimes warps her views of the good intentions of people. But she’s better than Despair at battling that—she tends to focus on the small pleasures of life to deal with it. 

But you know. You know. They kinda end up swapping places in their world views as time goes on. Chrysi gets colder and angrier, whereas Despair becomes much more human. 

K, kind: How different are your and your f/o’s personalities?

At first glance, they seem pretty different. But beyond the shallow views—Chrysi and Despair are very similar. They’re both extremely loyal, cunning, strategic, manipulative, devoted people, and they take comfort in finding another person that shares similar ideals/world-views.

In terms of their actions, however, Chrysi’s much more impulsive than Despair. Not to say that Despair doesn’t have his impulsive moments—but those tend to be more when Chrysi’s in danger!

L, longing: Was your relationship a slow burn?

Tentatively, yes? On Chrysi’s end, at least—and only in the current time. In ancient Roman times, they weren’t really slow burn, nor “love at first sight.” It was a nice progression into a relationship. 

In the current time... yeah, Despair had to prove himself to Chrysi in order for her to even consider him a friend. Then she had to get over her whole Thing about relationships, but... hmmmm, yeah, somewhat slow burn. Maybe not exactly, simply because of the time constraints they had, but YOU KNOWWWW. Yeah. That.
