what is Kitali and Lucia's relationship like? Do they have one or are they pretty distant with one another?

They do have one, though it's been through the wringer a bit.

Originally, at first meeting, Lucia didn't trust either her or Alphinaud. Mostly because she couldn't get a read off of Kitali but moreso because she was a completely unknown quantity on the board. She was trying to temper Aymeric's idolisation of her from very early on.

Kitali doesn't really form an opinion of Lucia for a while. She's just a knight she sees in the Congregation Hall sometimes, she really only starts interacting with her more once she signs her work contract with the Temple Knights.

It gets a bit dicey once Lucia takes her circlet off, because Kitali is not one to make her hatred of Garleans a secret, but at that time she had shifted her stance a little to "the only good Garlean is dead or defected", since Cid and a lot of other Ironworks members fall under that category. If she's not actively aiding the Garlean Empire, she's not Kitali's enemy.

Once they get past that they slowly build up trust with each other over the rest of Kitali's stay in Ishgard, to the point where they tag team getting Aymeric out of his office when one complains to the other that he needs a break.

Personally I just think Lucia is a slept-in character and would love to see more from her lol

Is there a relationship between characters in another setting that particularly inspired you? What is it about this portrayal that you enjoy?

Hmm, nothing that I can think of that directly inspired me as a whole, but I do have a habit of using references to movies and other media that I enjoy in stuff sometimes. So far I think I've referenced Stardust (2007) (literally one of my favorite films of all time), Romeo + Juliet (1996), and a very small nod to The Princess Bride (1987). I love sneaking in references though so I will almost certainly do it again in the future.

Imma be real with you right now tho... I have said it a few times but I am like... the sappiest person alive lol so I really like romance and sentimental stuff so that is usually what I enjoy the most about those portrayals.

Get to Know My Character!

Etienne titters a little shyly and pulls their hair off the nape of their neck a moment, then lets it drop. “Vander? I suppose he’s like being at sea. At night, I think. When you close your eyes and it smells fresh and the moonlight is spilling over you, and there’s all these stars sparkling back at you on the glassy backs of the waves. And you feel it - chaos and power and possibility. And you feel both big and small at once, more alive than you have ever felt. And then sometimes the boat lurches and you think, ‘Uh-oh.’ But you sort of want to see what happens next.”

Adi gives Etienne a really long, what the hell are you talking about look. And he shrugs. “I don’t have a lover,” he says. “Just a guy I can’t seem to get rid of. He sends me weird notes and turns up at places he shouldn’t be. You kind of want to grab him and shake him but you know that he’d just laugh and ... and you don’t know what to do about that?”

Etienne exclaims, “Adi, do you have a crush?!”

Adi glares back. “Etienne, do you have any idea someone might be poking around near the entrance of the Lamoureaux ancestral home?”

Etienne glances skyward. “I have no idea what you’re talking about. I’ve never met Jordain.”

“How’d you know it’s Jordain?”

Houmei just smiles quietly. “Ah, I’m still learning about Eorzean courtship. And.... something tells me some of the things I’ve read about Seekers don’t apply. I do not know if you’d call us lovers yet. We have been... on dates. But -- she fills your heart with sunshine. Boredom is her enemy. She’s fierce and funny. Nothing like you’d expect of an empress, but that’s why she’s such a good one, I’m sure.”
