If Tristan is still alive, aren't you afraid he'll come back?

“Tristan? Which one?” The priest asked, looking genuinely confused. As he processed the question’s full context, he raised a hand and shook his head.

At first, Laurent snorted derisively, but his expression quickly turned to bitter laughter. He laughed for several moments before he leveled his gaze and smirked dangerously.

“No. I am not afraid. I am not even worried,” he scoffed. “What reason would he have to even bother with me? Iseult is the one he should fear, right? She went out and put him in his place, didn’t she? I don’t even talk to her anymore. Why...”

He paused to laugh again. “Why would I even give him a second thought? I have actual boogeymen in my life, honestly. Why would I worry about him?

Since Laurent would not likely share his secrets, I will just answer this OoC for now.

1. Laurent is considering death a lot lately. He doesn’t want to die, so he isn’t suicidal, but when he had a brush with death a few months back, he felt like he got close to getting answers for questions that have plagued him for years. Subconsciously, he believes that he could get those answers if he had another moment like when he overdosed. He has been behaving recklessly without intention, and it is bound to bite him.

2. Laurent is in love with someone, but he can’t bring himself to tell her. They both have a lot on their plates right now, so he is pining in relative secrecy. At least he assumes it is being kept a secret.

3. Laurent doesn’t know it yet, but he is headed for Shadowlands. Not all of my characters will be involved in Shadowlands stuff directly and ICly, but Laurent will be.

Doing: Three habits that they have.

“Well, I’ve given a few habits as of late, but I’ve got plenty left,” Laurent laughed bitterly. “I still smoke, even if I smoke less. I can’t hit the card clubs I used to, because of the connection to the drugs I’ve given up, but I have found other ways to feed my gambling habit.”

He shrugged and smile with a crooked, rakish charm. He wasn’t proud of his vices, but they certainly were habitual.

“Outside of that, I’ve been hunting in Elwynn regularly. Sort of getting the wild side out and about in controlled doses, you know? Helps keep me tempered even as I am trying to learn to cope with sobriety.”

A wolfish grin spread over Laurent’s face. The cheeky bastard had the names practically written on his lips before the question was even uttered.

“Well, now, dear shadow, I think it could be seen as rude to admit such fantasies to a stranger. However, I am in a puckish mood, so I will indulge you with a hint or two.”

He leaned forward, his eyes darting from side to side as if he was checking for spies.

“I’d rather like to plant a kiss on the cheek of a woman whose name starts with R. I’d like to peck a girl whose name starts with E right on the forehead. And I’d like to kiss the hand of a woman whose name starts with T.”

The glint in his cognac-colored eyes hinted at the glee he took from such a vague confession.

“Oh now. Another question about my amorous tendencies, is it? Alright then,” Laurent smirked. “Well, there’s my cousin Darsa’s lass, Katharine. He’s a lucky man. Then there’s Temperance. She’s got the most stunning eyes and the purest heart I have ever encountered. Finally…oi… It’s sorta tough to just pick one more, innit?”

His smile faded faintly as he genuinely had to give it thought. His brows creased and his stare went distant a moment.

“Now, just so there isn’t confusion, I am stumped because you only asked for three. I happen to think that Emily and Rose are both quite stunning redheads. And then there’s that lovely lass at the tavern. And the maid at the tea shop. I know at least a dozen attractive members of the church. Oh, and that crusader, Saidelia is another fetching redhead. I just don’t think I have met many women that I would consider to be unattractive. Women are just lovely.”

Laurent doesn’t admit it, but he is most passionate about helping people. He doesn’t want the responsibility of being a hero, but he wants to see mortals flourish and thrive. It is something that consumes most of his thoughts, even if he doesn’t express those thoughts often.
