so in terms of favorite divisions, i had a slight interest in chuoku (Cool Evil Women) and bad ass temple (kuko. basically all of it was off the back of kuko) based on sheer aesthetics, back when i wasn't actively following the franchise. i basically started a watch of the anime on a whim after some friends went to go see the hypmic movie in their city (and i got curious at whatever the hell was going on with jakuramu in the stick to my mic clip). once i got a few episodes in, lo and behold:
i already got spoiled on a lot of ramuda's backstory at this point, but it was this and his image-breaking gap moe appeal that started making him a real standout for me. getting to read through the manga proper only cemented him and the rest of fling posse as live-and-die favorites of mine. which is also really funny in hindsight, since i thought ramuda looked obnoxious as hell on first impressions.
secondary favorite divisions might just be DH/BAT if we're only going off characters, but i think matenrou pairs really well as a rival division to FP (again, look through my blog for my blatant biases). chuoku's gone down a bit after i've actually read up on their stories, but i have a strong bias towards nemu with some of the characterization she's gotten in TDD and the 2nd DRB. and i will give one (One) special mention to MTC, being the preferred favorite division of my anime/music-only partner. i mostly like samatoki in hyperspecific circumstances (nemu and sasara putting him through emotional turmoil), but i will care for him as a division-in-law. rest in comfort you bastard.
