so, i made a zine about that thing i’ve been really getting into for the past 3 months.

unlike general hypmic explainers, this zine doesn’t really get into concrete spoilers or general details on the setting and story; this is more of an overview of what drew me into the franchise (and how those same things could get you into it too).

it’s a pay-what-you-want one-page zine layout, so you can print it and pass it out to that special someone you’re also trying to convince. overall goal is just to get as much people as possible into checking this thing out.

Have you ever felt grateful for how the headcanon of Riza Hawkeye as a trans man seems to be popular across the Fullmetal Alchemist fandom? If so, did you know most of the art you've seen for it is made by one single guy? A guy who really wants to get his top surgery done and could use your help with that? ;)

I'm Dimitri, a 23 year old trans man from São Paulo, Brazil. I've been living alone with my cat since late 2023, and currently I have a job that keeps me away from home 12 hours a day on top of sometimes doing commissions to supplement my income.

I've been drawing fanart for FMA, more specifically for Riza and Royai, for 8 years! On January 29, 2022, I posted a couple of doodles of a very self indulgent scenario of Riza as a trans man on twitter, and to my surprise it got a ton of attention(and some hate too lol). But it made me happy that a self indulgent AU I made to project my own experiences and wishes as a trans man onto my favorite character was so well received :)

This AU was born out of the wish to project onto my favorite character the life I wanted to live. Back then I felt very lost in life, being very dysphoric but with no prospect of getting to start HRT, much less being able to look into top surgery, projecting into Riza the life I wanted for myself(working towards being comfortable in your skin while being loved and supported through it by the people you care about) helped me a lot through it. So as you can imagine, it's a headcanon really personal to me that I hold dear to my heart. Which makes it really funny to me that the more I drew about it, the more popular it got. To the point of there being people who think it's simply a fandom-wide popular headcanon for Riza, not realizing that most, if not all, art for it is born from this one guy's unhinged dedication(me!!!)

Fast forward to 2026. I've been on HRT for 8 months after knowing I'm trans for about 8 years!!! Finally being able to start my transition after so long has made me very eager to start living my life as my authentic self, so I quickly started looking into getting top surgery, something that at this point you could say it’s my dream, as it’s a procedure that would give me back my life as someone whose dysphoria can be paralyzing at times. But the thing is, top surgery is expensive.

To give you some perspective: It's possible to get top surgery for free in Brazil through the government's trans healthcare program. But on top of there being a waitlist of around 2 years, you can't choose the professional who is performing your surgery(among some other bureaucracies).

This is going to be a life-changing surgery for me that is going to give me my life back, so I don't want to wait even more and feel uncertain about the results. Which is why I'm looking into paying for my surgery out-of-pocket. After researching for a while, I've decided on my surgeon. A renowned surgeon in the field who has performed this same surgery countless times, and has even taught surgeons who now perform it for the government's program how to do it in the first place! Which makes me feel confident about his skill and care.

So then I scheduled a consultation with him on April 22, 2026. After a few questions about my journey and clarifications about the surgery, the doctor gave me a price estimate for the procedure.

27(twenty-seven) thousand reais(approximately). This is roughly 20 months of minimum wage here in Brazil. (with roughly 4.000 reais needing to be paid beforehand to schedule a date for the surgery)😭

With all that being said!!!!!! Here are the conclusions:

27.000 reais is a looooot of money for someone who is paid in reais. But the conversion of BRL to USD, based on today's conversion rate, makes it around 5.500 USD— Not so bad if you get paid in dollars, right? It's like a real life money hack ... wowza...

So I'd really appreciate the help of anyone who CAN and WANTS to help me over on Ko-fi. Any amount will help me A LOT, even if to take off the weight from other life expenses so I can focus on commissions! And as I have talked about before, I'm also offering a digital PDF Transmasc Riza zine! With all of the transmasc Riza art I've posted so far + unpublished/revamped illustrations and sketches + guest art/writing from my friends! With both SFW and NSFW sides ;) I plan to have it out by the end of May/beginning of June! I hope you look forward to it!!

so, a fun little anecdote on the hypmic zine recently:

in addition to all the downloads (THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO TOOK A CHANCE ON IT) (THANK YOU TO THE ONES ALSO TAKING THE TIME TO SHARE PRINTED COPIES TO THEIR FRIENDS), i thought it’d be a fun experience to print some zines and hand them out at a local event this past weekend. it's a cute icebreaker, and it feels nice to give free surprises for the love of the game, right?

since it was a last-minute decision to go, i didn't have a lot of time to print more than 10 sheets the day before, and i figured (with no experience) that it'd be enough for the amount of people i was expecting to talk to. im an awkward talker, tablers probably aren't interested, it'll be fine 👍

i didn't have enough to give out for the last few tablers i talked to. the lesson of the story is believe in yourself. dumbass.

so in terms of favorite divisions, i had a slight interest in chuoku (Cool Evil Women) and bad ass temple (kuko. basically all of it was off the back of kuko) based on sheer aesthetics, back when i wasn't actively following the franchise. i basically started a watch of the anime on a whim after some friends went to go see the hypmic movie in their city (and i got curious at whatever the hell was going on with jakuramu in the stick to my mic clip). once i got a few episodes in, lo and behold:

i already got spoiled on a lot of ramuda's backstory at this point, but it was this and his image-breaking gap moe appeal that started making him a real standout for me. getting to read through the manga proper only cemented him and the rest of fling posse as live-and-die favorites of mine. which is also really funny in hindsight, since i thought ramuda looked obnoxious as hell on first impressions.

secondary favorite divisions might just be DH/BAT if we're only going off characters, but i think matenrou pairs really well as a rival division to FP (again, look through my blog for my blatant biases). chuoku's gone down a bit after i've actually read up on their stories, but i have a strong bias towards nemu with some of the characterization she's gotten in TDD and the 2nd DRB. and i will give one (One) special mention to MTC, being the preferred favorite division of my anime/music-only partner. i mostly like samatoki in hyperspecific circumstances (nemu and sasara putting him through emotional turmoil), but i will care for him as a division-in-law. rest in comfort you bastard.

my horror vn JAMIE AND MARLEY DIE A LOT is releasing on 6/25, and the store page is now open! i've been working on this game off and on for a long time, and small as it might be, it means a lot to me. if you like my work, horror vns, and/or rpg maker horror, please check it out and wishlist it!

you play as jamie, a young boy exploring a cave with his best friend marley. when it collapses, you're both trapped, and your only choice is to try to find a way out, but the cave proves to be much stranger and much more dangerous than expected, and being trapped is the least of your worries.

JAMIE AND MARLEY DIE A LOT is a short horror vn (about 1 hour) with puzzle elements and 14 endings (mostly bad ones). it was written and illustrated entirely by me. if you're interested in streaming it after release, please let me know and i'll send you a steam key!

he’s more of an active force and the more canonically promiscuous of the two (though that’s contributing to the public conflation between domming and topping)

the desire to see Prim and Perfect jakurai bouncing and moaning on it

jakurai would likely be the type to switch based on partner preference, and might also see this as the safest option in general

admittedly i want to see ramuda having to be physically vulnerable and having an emotion about it

im specifically imagining a scenario where jakurai offers to bottom because “clearly ramuda is too small and delicate to handle bottoming” and the insinuation pisses off ramuda so much that he takes the role out of spite
