Seawatt’s parents almost made it.
A dozen or so people or so knew of the upcoming destruction. Seawatt’s family was part of the few. Those who knew chugged health potions regularly, so that when people started dying (as was intended. The plan was that wiping out the fighter layer would disintegrate those there. The potions barely kept them alive.)
Unfortunately. It came a day early. Seawatt was standing on the cusp of the new layer, gold heavy on his feet in a way chainmail never was. Never should be. Solid, and lacking the holes that came with his usual boots, the gold was uncomfortable.
He waited on the other side for his mom and dad. 42 and 45 respectively.
He also watched with horror as the passage warped and shifted into a passage to the pro layer. He saw his father collapse before it was fully gone.
By the time he made it back his house was empty.
