We visited the Air Force Museum today. Well I will "one star recommend it", I will probably not return again for a long time. And that "souvenir shop" is more like a mama shop, I wonder why it's even there, or who's the man running the shop, why was there a used baby playmat on display, are the chips expired... so many questions. 🤔 This outing unexpectedly led me to pray silently as we were leaving the place: "It's ok that this outing wasn't very satisfying, help me to find my satisfaction in Christ." #ohchooxlovesg #omchooxprays

#didyouknow there were once around 55,000 nutmeg trees in Singapore? It was a popular cash crop for the British settlers who started planting it in 1848 until a disease introduced by a beetle wiped out the entire population by 1862. I think the guide said that after that they tried to grow fruit trees but none were ever as profitable as nutmeg. Imagine Orchard Road could have been Nutmeg Road? #ohchooxlovesg #ohemeraldhill

I really enjoyed the animated films. They brought a sombre topic to life and gave visitors an additional opportunity to interact with the wealth of information presented. This one was for a narration of Lim Bo Seng's diary by a voice actor. #witnesstowar #nationalmuseumofsingapore #ohchooxlovesg

General Yamashita's katana. #witnesstowar at #nationalmuseumofsingapore The parts that moved me the most were the survivors accounts and exhibits about the anti-Japanese efforts in Singapore. A recurring question I see at exhibits is: what would you do in the war? Stay or flee? I imagine myself at a furtive meeting in an upper room plotting against Japanese advances or fervently shouting at fundraisers: ”打倒日本鬼子！” There is a full transcription of Lim Bo Seng's diary at the exhibit, and several short animated films to accompany the stories told by survivors. These octogenarians were mere children when war broke out. Imagine in a decade or two, we would have no more living war survivors to tell us stories anymore! That's why I found this section especially poignant. #ohchooxlovesg #neveragain
