REVIEW: ( Pyewacket 2018 ) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀”Pyewacket” tells the story of Leah, who’s frustrated with her mother, after moving to a new home, away from her friends and boy crush, you know, teen problems. An occult enthusiast, Leah performs a ritual in the woods that awakens something sinister. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This one is a slow burn to say the least. Most of the time I watch films like this cautiously, due to fact that they often end with little to no payoff after gradual buildup. This film though, with its steady but gripping pace, really pulled me in. It’s well acted and builds uncomfortable amounts of tension. The Director crafts some tight, close quarter shots that traps the viewer and therefore puts you right in the front seat of some frightful moments. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ By the time the film comes to end I was pleased with its conclusion and with the film overall. Solid 90 minutes of cinema. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ [ 3 out of 5 ] ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
