Send a 👫and I’ll write four (I wrote five because I forgot how to count halfway through :|) five headcanons I have about our muse’s relationship
Tough as her exterior is, and difficult as it may be to gain her favour, Cassandra has a very select list of people she admires. Cullen’s succesful endeavors following the Kirkwall rebellion instantly earned him a spot on that list. Most people will say that this was the reason she had appointed him to be the Inquisition’s Commander, but there is something more to it all, recognition perhaps. A kinship between two warriors, each with their own discipline, yet with very similar stories and values.
Having known him since Kirkwall and traveled some distance with him, Cassandra has somewhat opened up to Cullen, at least more so than usual–about their mutual dislike for mages due to past traumas, most of all. Their friendship was in early stages of blossoming when disaster struck at the Conclave, and they both lost very dear friends, fellow soldiers, and for Cassandra, a lover. Having no one who could understand just how harrowing these events were for the two of them, they spent many an evening reminiscing over drinks, recalling stories of the past. The good and the bad.
It’s no secret that, for exactly that reason, Cullen had confided in Cassandra and asked her for help, should his lyrium habits become too much of an obstacle for him to continue his duty as a Commander. What’s not well-known is the amount of sleepless nights Cassandra has had, posting outside his door to make sure he was still breathing after hours on end of feverish mumbling and laboured breath followed by complete silence. An unnerving experience, but she refused to rest whilst Cullen needs her support; ever the Carer, and he was in need of some proper care at that point.
On the light-hearted side, they enjoy sharing stories of minor scars that they have gathered throughout their years of battle, as a pastime. The deeper scars get left out of the equation.
Cassandra has seen Cullen half-undressed or even naked on more than one occasion—but that is mostly because he is a very poor card player, and she enjoys the occasional game.
