SighTracked x We Are SME Ft. Koder, Drifter, Little Dee & Kozzie
Kozzie - Yeah (Remix Ft. Merky Ace) So much better than the original, both the song and the video.
Donaeo - Pow I actually really like this, a nice little homage and a reminder of some legendary bars. I like what he does with JME's Pow 2012 bars but the Flirta ones are the best, they're all really inventive, he keeps you guessing and I wanted it to go on for longer. Must have been annoying changing that many times though !!
Ten Dixon - Lengman This tune has been my guilty pleasure for a few weeks now, if I've got a spare few minutes, it's on. I tried to just ignore it and move on to something else, something more mature, something more melodic, something more layered, something less angry but I couldn't. I CAN'T STOP PLAYING IT.
Devlin - London City (Part 2) Well part 1 was a smash and this follow up is no different, two years on and it's equally powefull, if not more. We see a reflective Devz, looking back on his emergence from the streets of Dagenham to 'a nice little drum where I don't hear sirens when I'm sleeping' despite all the changes in his life; his success and fame, he says that you'll still find him in the 'grime, hussle and bussle' and while alot of MC's play that card, you can't help but believe Devz . Devlin is still one of the best lyricists out there. He creates great images with his lyrics, something lacking in grime and this tune is full of these. His mixtape 'The Directors Cut' is free and available from http://www.officialdevlin.com/ it's not Tales From The Crypt standard but he has kept it grimey and there's a feature from Ghetts on there, a partnership that has created some of the best, complete grime tunes in the past. Anyone who missed out on Part 1, have a gander below.
Face Off 2 - Lay-Z, Frisco & Jammer Never really been a massive fan of Lay- Z but he's bareable on this tune, it's quite a live one actually, a little three way rally with the MC's working off each other. Nice to see the normal grime song structure scrapped and replaced by the exciting chopping between all three MC's, could be used alot more, it feels much more fresh and alive. Despite his struggle with the 'bally', it's Frisco that gets me noddin my head the most.
Wiley - One Way TV Freestyle Wiley has spent this week reminding everyone why he's the godfather. The 'Step' freestyles have been getting so much love and show Wiley at his best, they are a little nod to the doubters out there. Wiley's work rate and the quality of what he's brought out is also a little slap in the face of Desperado, who came with a slightly desperate send a few weeks ago; 'Wiley aint the King of grime no more' see below , Wiley didn't need to reply, the proof is surely in his recent releases.
