Steps in the process of painting a portrait of Jason Mantzoukas portraying Adrian Pimento in the TV show Brooklyn 99. I don’t use the fan brush very often, but I felt it necessary in helping to create the chaotic look that the character embodies. My palette included: prussian blue, ultramarine blue, burnt umber, burnt sienna as the underwash, alizarin crimson, yellow oche, hansa yellow medium, and titanium white. I used a touch of Gamblin Solvent-free fluid as a medium as well, and in the second to last picture there’s all the brushes I used on this 30.4 x 40.6 cm piece of canvas

Oil painting study in my sketchbook. . I did this on Saturday and had to start a new sketchbook, because this is still wet, thus I can’t close it and carry it around. . I’ll have to get a separate sketchbook for this kind of stuff, because I do want to continue doing it. . Before I thought that I struggle with blending because of the canvas texture. This is true, to an extend. I’m really all over the place with this painting, just loving laying it on there. In keeping with my process of doing everything ass-backwards, I’m now adding the thing furthest from the viewer in perspective, I’m starting to put the sky in with some French Ultramarine and titanium white with a little bit of raw umber to scale back the top of the tone, as well as heat it up a little. A lot of people scratch their heads when they hear that titanium white is a cold colour, and it’s not quite winter where I am just yet, but it’s coming and I’m going to be out there givin’er on some winter landscapes

Hey everyone. I posted a picture of Caesar from Wargroove on Halloween, I figured a dog dressed up in Roman/Medieval combat armour was a pretty neat little idea to do, so I threw some paint down with some solvent-free fluid as medium on an untoned piece of canvas. The colour palette was Raw Umber, French Ultramarine Blue, Yellow Ochre, Payne’s Grey, and Permanent Alizarin Crimson. Here’s the steps from rudimentary drawing to finished study. I wanted to stay loose and painterly in terms of technique and not spend a whole lot of time with it, which is a good way to build skill, moving from one piece to the next in a short amount of time

쉽사리 끝나지 않지만 그 와중에 새럽게 체득허고 있는 것들이 있어서 즐겁다. 자고 일어나서 거울도 보지 않고 바로 카메라로 찍고 판넬에 젯소바를 준비를 했다. 나의 동지 맥심카피 삼봉을 타가지고 그리기 시작한지 지금이 삼일째. 어제는 거의 뭐 한게 없으니 이틀이라고 해도 무관. 내일 하루는 가만히 말려야 할 것 같다. 오늘 얹은 것만 해도 이 아이는 지금 버거울 것 같다. 얇게 레이어를 쌓긴 했는데 배경도 그렇도 마지막 작업을 하려면 하루에서 어쩌면 더 말려야할지더 모르겠다. 그 동안 키위작가님이 시작하신 프로젝트 구상 먼저 하고 지금 나무 판넬 새로 두개븥여서 작업할 것도 구상먼저 해두어야 겠다.내일은 판넬두장짜리 젯소바르고 준비해둬야지. 할 것은 정말 내 체력만 되면 할 것들이 산더미다. 배울거리들도 한가득. 하지만 오늘도 그림그리면서 급해지는 것 같아서 속으로 ‘속도!!!’라고 크게 외쳤다. 여기서는 시속 30km 로 가야한다고 ..... 달라지 말라고.... 빅서보선생님이 해주신 수신(self cultivation)의 자세에 들어갈 때 상태가 어찌 되는지 새끼손가락 손톱만큼정도 알 것 같았다. 한 인간의 역사가 갖거 있는 지혜의 보따리는 그 인간이 사망하면 즉시 사라진다. 그것이 너무 아쉽다. 우린 하나의 거대한 세계를 잃는 것이나 마찬가지다. 내가 나이가 들고 있으니 그런 소식을 종종 듣게 될텐데 잘 대처할 수 있을지 모르겠다. 어쩌다 이야기가 이리로?😤 굿밤 #oilpainting #wip #oilart #oilartist #oilpaintingstudy #artstudy #arttrainee #그림견습생 #그림배우기 #수련일지 #paintingart #oilcolorart #contemporaryart #selfportraitpainting #figurepainting (Seoul, Korea에서) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqQgqn7rAzN/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
