some asks - sorry some of these are kind of old. I only get around to answering stuff once in a blue moon.

I do not! Nothing against it but I just don’t personally enjoy the process so I don’t use it in my personal work. Too much transforming and filtering.. too little actual drawing. I have however used it for professional work and sometimes I will sketch things individually and collage them together to make it easier for me to work depending on the scale. But yeah, no photobashing normally.

(post in reference) I didn’t use any perspective grids for that drawing but occasionally for bigger pieces that require a stronger adherence to perspective I’ll use the Perspective Tools extension by Sergey Kritsky which is ABSOULTELY worth the price here on gumroad if you’re a photoshop-user - makes grids very easy to set up. You can actually see some of the grids in my process work if you’re looking for it lol

I used to be such a square abt it like “bluh perspective is just a bunch of lines i dont need a tool to do it for me like a DUMB BABY. I can just draw the grids myself and itll be good enough!!! :\” dont be like that LOL, I started using perspective tools for work last year and ported it over to my personal work so damn fast its like one of the best artistic decisions ive made. If you can make less work for yourself, PLEASE make less work for yourself.

I will probably draw naruto again because like every 4 years of my life I go through a naruto phase. I have drawn dangan ronpa before many many years ago and I gotta say the only time I will ever draw it again will be if I’m commissioned to lol...Nothing against it personally, it’s just not really my thing. Kiritetsu+Colossus.... I would but honestly I don’t even know what I’d draw, I feel like I covered it with that one drawing. But if you’ve got an idea... you can always commission me!!! And I’d be happy to.

Uhhhh they’re good! I like them! Yusuke’s character arc is maybe like my favorite or second favorite in the game and I love Ryuji first and foremost for max mittlemans voice acting and secondly because he is just so...so much better than P4 Yosuke who I truly could not stand.

I’m not big on Mishima but I think he’s an incredibly well written depiction of like. that dude in class who you didn’t really mean to talk to but ended up talking to and now its a little weird. I really like that event where you run into shinya while hanging out with mishima and shinyas like “whos this your friend” and ren is like “no, king, hes no one” LOL this is mostly because I just really like shinya. 

ships.... I like yusuke/ryuji a lot, just aesthetically and personality wise its an interesting dynamic. I like ryuji/ann bc theyre good friends. I like ann/yusuke if I close my eyes to all the early plot stuff and just pretend theyre like.....fujiko and goemon from lupin III LMAO. ryuji/makoto? kinda woke?? I mean I feel lesbian makoto deep in my bones but also their showtime opened my eyes a lil. I think they could bond over action movies. mishima/protag is kind of fun in like a sad pathetic way.. I’m a little interested in mishima/JOKER actually bc i like identity porn plotlines lol.

sing a new song

summary: you can’t escape from the all-seeing eye.

for the birthday of one certain @oilux. rudimentary possible mabill. mabel is 20.

mabel wakes up, sticky-mouthed and tongue dry.

ever since she’d started making her mabel juice with extra coffee, she’d found this happening more often than not. the visions would come back, fluffy sweaters and dipper screaming and grunkle ford somehow frozen in gold--

she smacked her cheeks in a vague attempt at waking up, half-aware and rising from under her mountain of blankets. her voice is still slurred from terror and sleep as she carefully stepped over a unicorn plush she was mending. her voice wasn’t convincing, even to herself, but she still had to try.

“you can do this business thing, mabel pines. that dumb customer won’t get their way again, and that professor will give you that extension for sure!”

her heart still raced, though, as she looked into the mirror next to her dresser. the brown sweater from 9th grade she’d worn at dipper’s latest science show had a spot of sweat on it, and the embroidery on the front looked rather sad. mabel pulled it off and scoffed. “man, mr. sweater, you definitely need a repair.” she carefully folded the sweater before dunking it into the clothes hamper she reserved specifically for her creations. it went in with some satisfying swoosh, and mabel gave herself a small cheer before turning to her closet. what to wear, what to wear? a small voice-- hurry, shooting star, hurry--

a few sweaters she kept safe from moths still remained in the closet, their purples and pinks familiar, but one in particular stood out. its lemon yellow hurt her eyes for a moment; not recalling knitting it, mabel reached for the cloth and pulled it out. the hanger poked her arm as she examined the needlework; it was crochet, something she rarely did, but the pattern immediately turned her stomach cold.

thousands of delicate all-seeing eyes and bows dotted it, and slowly, ever so slowly, the yarn rippled. black traveled across into lines, and suddenly the fabric burst into flames. blue flames, which licked from the quickly dropped sweater up to ring mabel’s neck in a halogen light. a tenor voice began to laugh uncontrollably, loudly, and mabel felt dizziness coming onto her. she forced her knees to straighten, but almost screamed at a presence behind her back only moments later.

the voice, raspy but familiar, let out a little chuckle. “i made that just for you, shooting star. wear it for me, won’t you?”

mabel wiped some sweat off her face, composing herself despite the natural terror coursing through her blood. “no, you sick, evil equilateral-”

she whirled, only to see a man with a cheshire smile and a familia color scheme. a tailcoat floated behind him, whipping around like a limb, and his face seemed to grow more handsome behind its hair and single blue eye. bill spun an all-too-familiar cane around as he laughed richly in her face for what seemed like centuries. the sound of his voice made something in her pelvis clench, and almost immediately she felt sick with something both oily and pleasant.

“oh, i missed your spunk, shooting star. much better than that gloomy grey brother of yours.” he raised his hand, and she felt her body pulled towards him. she attempted to resist with all her strength, but the demon merely tutted and tugged harder.

“come on, pet. just one hello for your old pal. and”-- her feet gave way-- “there we go.” cinnamon and cotton candy and mabel juice swirled over her nose, and she realized the chest she had been leaning against not only felt good, but was very, very not right. squirming a bit, she found that a gloved hand clasped her firmly to the figure’s side, and he looked down at her with that one blue eye and a very, very wrong grin.

“congratulations, mabel, you’ve earned me as your forever friend. and maybe more, by the looks of it.”

10. not wearing that Mabill?

Mabel blinked as she looked up at her demonic boyfriend, whose face was contorted into a rather unpleasant looking scowl; scowls never suited her sweet triangle.

“What’s wrong?” she asked. 

Bill arched an eyebrow at the question, wondering how in the world his Mabel couldn’t see that what she was wearing was far from appropriate. He had never been one to tell Mabel how to dress, especially with her impeccable taste, but the combo she choose for this summer party was simply a poor decision on her part!

“Mabel that…well I think you should change.”

“What? Why?”

“Well it…gods I can’t believe I’m saying this but…well…”

The brunette turned to give her lover her full attention, taking this moment very seriously. She valued Bill’s opinion, so she would listen. Perhaps he was uncomfortable with how tiny her shorts were or that her crop top was too tight. It was hot these days so she wore as little as needed; Bill never seemed to mind, but maybe she had taken it too far. 

“Do I look…is it too tight?”

“Oh no,” he said bluntly, “trust me if we weren’t going out I would be ravishing you on the couch.” 

Mabel blinked once more, “then…whats wrong with it?” 

“To put it bluntly, it’s your shoes, don’t you think you’d feel better wearing sandals? No offense but the heels are too much in this heat.” Mabel paused for a moment before letting out a faint chuckle, “Bill, have I ever told you how much I love you?” “You have,” he said with a smirk, “but please continue, it never gets old.”

This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things, Guys

When you leave a comment of someone's fanfic, you should really think about what you're going to be sending to the author.

If your intent is to hurt the author and make them feel like shit, then you need to backspace the hell out of there and rethink what it is you want to send.

If you think I'm talking about a specific incident then, yeah, I am.

Yesterday, I got a slew of anon messages that pointed out to me that another author was plagiarizing my work and using my ideas to create their own story. They were not nice about it and basically asked that I call them out and destroy this person for doing so. I've gotten messages like this before so I do what I do and I ignore them.

At least, I would have if the author the anon was telling me about hadn't contacted me too.

They messaged me and admitted that this person, this anon who thought they were doing the lords work, was harassing them and leaving comments on their work about how horrible of a writer and person they were. They wrote that they 'stole' from me, that they didn't give me any recognition for the ideas they took and used. They were rude, hurtful, and dismissal of all the hard work this author put into their own story, their words veiled as concern for me.

You weren't concerned for me though, were you, anon?

You wanted to lash out and hurt someone because you thought it was justified. You left hurtful words that are more than just that, words. You tore down someone who is working hard to create a story and tried to make them seem like the smallest person in the world because you thought they were stealing from me, like I would appreciate you for doing this. Even your messages to me were all about you, how YOU found them and YOU were letting me know, how YOU find this unacceptable.

And you know what anon?

I don't care.

I don't own ideas or specific scenes. I don't own alternate universes where Bill is a god and Dipper is his sacrifice. I don't own the stars. I don't own codes or dancing or banter or relationship building. I don't own a hell of a lot of things.

I'm going to tell you a secret about writing.

When you read something you subconsciously hold onto aspects and ideas about what you read. It's why you remember certain books fondly or why you can think of a certain scene or imagery when thinking back on the story. It's something your brain does, it picks up information you think you like. This imagery and information can carry over to your writing. Easily. If you read that Character A and Character B meet at a flower shop and it's something you like, you're going to feel inclined to make them meet in the same way. Details may be different but the base idea is there. All authors do it. I can't even begin to sit down and list everything that's inspired my story, At My God's Feet I Show My Devotion.

Every story, every book you read, is going to be a combination of other books, other stories.

Every fanfic you read is going to be inspired by something.

If my story inspired someone to write a story then that's wonderful! It means they liked my work enough to subconsciously hold onto ideas that they liked about it. And, if they go out and write a fanfic while holding onto these ideas, more power to them! That's what's so wonderful about writing! It's how people develop head canons and mannerisms for characters.

I'm writing a Billdip story that revolves around Cipher being a God and Dipper his sacrifice.

I wasn't the first and I won't be the last.

Does that mean I should be offended every time someone writes a god!AU were Cipher is a god and Dipper is his sacrifice?

No.

If someone does write a god!Au where Cipher is god and Dipper is sacrifice does that mean you get to go on this grand crusade and try to burn the author at stake for all to see? Does it mean you can leave nasty comments on their stories and send anonymous messages to them that are filled with hurtful insults and harsh words, telling them to kill themselves or that they're a common thief and their work sucks because it has a few similarities to another story you read? 

Absolutely not.

I didn't ask for this. I didn't want this. You went to war using my name and my stories and I'm not too happy about it. You tried to start something you yourself had no intention of participating in. How dare you. How dare you.

How dare you verbally attack another author who is working so hard on their story and working tirelessly to create something for people to enjoy. How dare you try and involve me, to try and fight your battles using me and my works. How dare you upset someone who you don't even know. How dare you send countless messages to both parties to try and make yourself seem like the good guy. How dare you try to make someone feel bad about the story they created. How dare you. how dare you. How. Dare. You.

https://oilux.tumblr.com/ is a wonderful person. They are kind and sweet and thoughtful and you had no right to try and make them feel bad about the story they were writing. You had no right to leave hurtful messages comparing our works. You had no right, whatsoever, to tell them they were a thief and that you were disappointed in them. You had no right to make them seem small and insignificant when they stand far taller than you ever will.

Next time you leave a comment on a fanfiction you're reading, take a deep breath and really think about what you're going to say.

Your words mean something.

Use them wisely.
