“It’s only a scratch, it’s fine, Allie!”
Well, it was only a scratch if you counted a bloodied wound as such. Jacob winced as Aloy busied herself with cleaning the cut on his cheek, hissing between his teeth the moment she placed the cool ointment on it. He always hated this part of the process but there was very little he could do about it, aside from pout anyway.
“OK, so maybe it’s a little worse than I thought... Guess I should have paid more attention to where he was pointin’ that knife.”
Of course, the gang leader chuckled at his own little joke, clearly the only one who found it funny.
“I don’t know what I would do without you, really. I appreciate you lookin’ out for me. I’m sure it would be easier just to leave me in a ditch somewhere.”
