Weeb Wednesday: Plastic Nee San (2011)
Comedy, slice of life, school 1 season (12 episodes)
Iroe Genma is a third-year high school student often referred to as "Elder Sister" despite her short height. This trouble-making teenager is the president of her school's Model Club, which is dedicated to building plastic models of various objects and structures, such as cars, boats, and even robots. Joined by her two underclassmen, the violent Hazuki "Okappa" Okamoto and the rational Makina "Makimaki" Sakamaki, the small group aims to carry out their club duties but are often sidetracked by a myriad of distractions. From battles between club members to lessons on how to confess to your crush; these three schoolgirls get caught up in all sorts of wacky, and downright outrageous situations!
This show is a strange one to describe. It’s hard to say what it’s really about except that it’s one outrageous and hilarious situation after another. The characters are rude, raunchy, and downright ridiculous, but it’s one hell of a time watching it all unfold. Sometimes outlandish, at other times, extremely relatable, this show is a wild card. The best (and perhaps bad) part of this show is that each episode is around 2 minutes on average, though sometimes more or less. You can watch the entirety of the show in under 30 minutes. So really, apart from half an hour, there’s nothing to lose. Whether you love or hate this show, it’ll be over before you know it, so why not give it a shot? Fair warning, don’t watch this with your parents.
The Kokeshi Sisters didn’t make it to the final round but they had so much fun during the opening and Okappa won twice!
