"St. Vincent's Home - The Abandoned Insane Asylum" St. Vincents home in Oklahoma City was built in 1945 and operated by the catholic rehabilitation group The Brother's of Mercy. It was a place for mentally ill or unstable male patients that ranged from 7 years of age to as old as 90 years of age. It was also a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility as well as an assisted living for seniors at one point. St. Vincent's Home's past is shakey at best thanks to the story of a nurse that was arrested for suffocating multiple patients as well as the priest that ran the rahabilitation center that was found shot and killed after a controversy involving an undercover male cop and a male prostitution arrest. Saying this place is "creepy" is an understatement. It looks exactly how you would imagine an abandoned insane asylum to look. Colorful nonsensical graffiti on the walls, questionable splatters and drips on the walls, crumbling infrastructure, the echos of water droplets in the distance, wind blowing through the building, ZERO light ( I had to use my phone and camera flash), and just an overall vibe that you don't want to have. I'm glad I went, but I was more happy to leave. I want to stress to anyone that is thinking about trying to go out there to please think twice. I realize how hypocritical that sounds but this place is ready to fall. The 1st floor isn't even accessible without a canoe as it's flooded completely and the pillars holding the second story up are corroded and falling apart. It's not going to last much longer and any wrong shake, vibration, shift or added weight could be the trigger. Thanks for reading guys! If you enjoyed this please let me know in the comments. An abandoned High school and an abandoned circus just to name a few. #oklahoma #exploreok #discoveroklahoma #okie #okielife #outdooroklahoma #oklahoman #igersok #travelok #OklahomaCity #oklahomaphotographer #oklahomaartist #oklahomaart #oklahomaartists #oklahomaphotographers #oklahomahistory #okhistory #okc #abandonedplaces #abandoned_world #abandonedbuilding (at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) https://www.instagram.com/p/By5SfNdByUe/?igshid=1pn87ynd8mlop
