I believe it is Old Deuteronomy! Finally, it’s time for the Jellicle leader! Tried to really mix in the cat elements with the costume on this particular one. Both times I saw the Australian cast, I did get two swings/understudies for the old duet; however, both were wonderful.

day 1 of jellicle january and it's none other than old dueteronomy himself!!

i didn't get the chance to draw old duet last jellicle january so i was super happy to get to draw him this time around! the way i draw eyes has changed since last year's challenge but i think it works in my favour here i wanted for my design for old duet to have kind yet wise old man vibes and i really think the eyes are what does it here!!

excited for day 2 tomorrow and like i did last time i'll leave details about the inspiration of my design below!! :D

the pose i used was inspired by the pose that old deuteronomy hits during the ad-dressing of cats but i used this specific image of ken page as old duet on broadway in 1982!

i was inspired by the coat texture, initial facial hair and the colours within the image above of ken prymus who played old dueteronomy also on broadway!

i used this specific image just so i could see what old dueteronomy's tail and feet look like since i could never get a good look at them, especially his tail

he has such big orb eyes in my design he kind of reminds me of a great patoo! i gave old duet a little scar on his face and the cuts in his years because he's been around for a long time and i think that at some point as a younger cat maybe he got into some scuffles or fights, he may be kind and caring but i think that in his younger years old duet wouldn't have been afraid to get a little dirty. maybe once upon a time he was a protector of the tribe who knows!

Let me tell you this. Sometimes it’s okay to be mad at nothing. That’s an odd statement but it’s true. Feeling angry is the same as feeling sad or happy. It’s an emotion that we want to try to understand in our heads but we are afraid of hurting others if we execute that anger and pain. We don’t want to lose our loved ones because of words even we don’t understand.

But remember, it’s okay to not understand those emotions. Try to find ways to alleviate that anger. Count down from 10. Write in a notebook. Talk to a friend. Play a game. Listen to music. Do what you like.

Know this. understanding why you are angry, frustrated, or irritated matter. 

You matter. And don’t forget that!
