Was inspired by another artist on former bird app to redraw my wol with that reaper shot from the evercold trailer. I had a lot of fun studying the colours. It was nice to draw something more realistic for a change.

I don't think Estinien ever worries about the WoL, not because he doesn't care, but because anything you do he just assumes you'll succeed, even if it shouldn't be possible. You brought Ishgard and dragons together, you and Alphinaud saved him from Nidhogg's eyes, and then you immediately freed two more countries, of course you're going to save this other world and bring the scions' souls home. I know I say that I'm kinda nuts for doing the amount of visual research I do, but at the same time: Specificity is SO much more compelling and real feeling, and imo not getting references often makes things look more amateur.

Eg. drawing a sofa- my mental image of a sofa is something like this:

Like. Its a sofa. It works. But it's not very convincing, the pillows are kinda wrong at the back, and it's not really giving any information about the owner. Even if you want a basic sofa... What kind of basic.

My favourite game in the whole universe turned 20 today. OKAMI an action adventure game originally released for the ps2 on this day back in 2006. But I would not discover it until a few years later when I was 14. Asking my mum to buy a preowned copy for $20 dollars off eBay. After seeing reviews and trying to find games for the only non handheld console I owned at the time… my then almost decade old ps2 which still thrives to this day. I played through the game for the first time during a time in my life where I was struggling the most with new life changes and my enjoyment of this game, moved me to make fanart of it as my embroidary assignment in my yr 8 textiles class.

I have a tough time definitively saying what my favourite game is, But on reflection Okami is the one piece of media I can definitely say has moved me both personally and creatively in such a way that its influences are still very clear on my art till this day. It inspired me to experiment with ink and watercolour media’s at a young age. To broaden my knowledge of the world and its stories though language studies. It also doesn’t help out of any franchise I I own more Okami merch than anything else. So I felt I had to post something to honour this special anniversary. I unfortunately didn’t have time to put this to my normal level of polish but I would like to I will turn this into fully finished piece later, but there’s such a charm to to this really raw, sketchy version that I wanted to share.
