THE MR GARRISON PART
So way back when, shit, over 20 years ago, I would read so much Sailor Moon fic.
And so much of it was on it's own archives. One had SO MUCH FIC. and it was SO GOOD. Or I remember it being amazing, I don't know, I was like 12.
.....and I have no idea how or where to look for any of that again and it makes me sad sometimes.
(I'm 99% sure one of them was based off of romance novel that I look for to this day)
What was up with old fandoms and making their ship names really simple but also really complicated? Like I was in the Prince of tennis fandom, the Pokémon fandom and the yugioh fandom and they would have you believe that their ship names were simple because all the POT ship names ended in ‘pair’( ie. Thrill Pair, Pillar Pair, Royal Pair, etc) and all the Yugioh/Pokémon ship names ended in shipping( pokeshipping, palletshipping, puzzleshipping, puppyshipping, etc) but bitch even though it made things easier to label you still needed a guide to traverse your way around the fucking fandom. There are whole ass guides with fucking subpages dating back years for these fandoms. Like how do you make a system so simple but so complicated?
Been seeing a lot of anti-brony negativity lately and like being forreal candid here it's a little annoying. I think these people forget or just never realized that for every 1(one) bad thing they were subjected to there were a thousand ways that the brony fandom was helping people. There was this incredible explosion of music and art and literature and you can stay on your high horse all you want but the fact is that the majority of what the brony fandom did was pretty incredible.
Just the other day I was listening to music from the show on YouTube for some nostalgia and came across a comment from some kid in high school who said MLP was helping him get through some hard times and it amazed me that even after all this time and the decline of the show's popularity the fandom isn't "dead" and is still helping people to this day. I was in 7th or 8th grade when I started watching MLP and even tho I've distanced myself from the show and the fandom it's frustrating to see people insulting something that I used to love because they weren't a part of it and only saw the worst parts of the fandom because thats the stuff that people want to see, the stuff that confirms their false perception.
Anyway rant over have fun dragging brownies if you want but just remember that you may not be as knowledgeable as you think you are.
I just had a conversation with my brother that reminded me of things that happened ages ago in general Fandom. In that does the name order of the pairing have any significance to the ship? IE: Remy LeBeauXHank McCoy vs Hank McCoyX Remy LeBeau.
Which reminded me that yes that did. When did that change, kids? WHEN
Sometimes I'm reminded that Cassandra Claire is now a published, successful writer and they're making a movie out of her book.
And I'm just. How.
