"Come back to me in one piece." Tiifu says as Vitani prepares her guard for patrol.

Tiifu was panting as she took the lead, her paws aching as she forced them to carry her to where Zazu had spotted her girlfriend.

Simba, Nala, Kiara and Kovu were close behind, with a few lionesses at their heels.

The sight that greeted Tiifu struck her hard in the chest.

On the ground, suffering from wounds from a rogue was Vitani.

Tiifu rushed forward and checked over her injuries. Some were deep and with the amount of blood it was difficult to see if any were life threatening.

Simba nodded to his lionesses. "Spread out! I want this entire border searched! If you find the lion responsible, chase him off."

Nala's eyes narrowed into slits. "Leave with him marks that promise he'll never return again."

The patrol nodded and did as they were told.

Tiifu carefully cupped Vitani's face in her paw.

"Tani'? It's me. We came to take you home."

The tan lioness struggled to open her eyes and icy blue met forest green. She managed a crooked smile and it hurt Tiifu when blood leaked from the corner of her mouth.

"Hey, babe... sorry I didn't keep my promise."

If the situation wasn't so dire, Tiifu would have laughed at her girlfriend's comment, remembering how she always made Vitani promise her to return safe.

"I'll let you slide this time." Tiifu managed, her voice straining. "Only if you allow me to take care of you."

Vitani weakly nodded.

Kovu approached and gently buried his head in Vitani's neck. "What happened?" He asked.

"I spotted a rogue trying to hunt a zebra. I ordered him to stop and leave before I told the king. Then he attacked me. His fighting technique wasn't like anything like I encountered. It was sloppy, poorly executed. But he got a few good shots in." Vitani's lips curled into a smile. "But I got a few good kicks in too..."

Not long after she said that, one of the lionesses returned. "The rogue is dead. Suffered from severe wounds. He made it into the Elephant Graveyard before he collapsed."

Simba turned to Vitani. "Normally I don't condone acts such as what took place... but obviously he died from wounds that were inflicted in self defense." He nodded and nuzzled the young lioness in comfort. "I'm proud of you, Vitani. You defended you land."

Tiifu smiled as Vitani blushed at the praise, but the smile didn't last when Vitani winced and her body began to shake.

"We need to get you to Rafiki." She said.

"Put her on my back." Kovu said.

With little effort, Vitani was dragged onto her brother's back. Kiara walked on side and Tiifu on the other, her head close to Vitani's. "I'm so proud of you." Tiifu whispered. "When we get you to Rafiki's I'm going to bring you the biggest zebra and then I'm going smother you with kisses."

Vitani let out a tired, amused grunt. "First, I was in danger of being clawed to death, now smothering? It is not my day."

Tiifu giggled as she licked the side of of Vitani's cheek as they made their way to Rafiki's tree.

throwback to when i had the ability to draw with good colors, i miss being able to do shit like this, even if my anatomy wasnt right, or some things were off, i miss being able to sit down and choose colors, and not think so far ahead. I miss being happy with just a circle. I miss being able to draw eyes and not second guesss myself so much. I miss being able to just let creativity flow, but now my well has run dry, and the rope attached to the bucket has snapped.

When Roy McLeeny died, it was not at home surrounded by loved ones, nor in the bed of a woman he'd met hours before. Roy was in a bar when he died, which statistically made all the sense in the world. He'd been drinking, as he often was, and a drunkard at the bar had given him a sour look like Roy had uttered something unconscionable despite his mouth being filled with ale. A fight ensued, as they often did with the mixture of alcohol and testosterone, and it was during that fight Roy had died. Not from a hidden blade or a broken bottle, not from a chair leg or an unfortunate fall; Roy's old, pickled heart had simply gone silent as he grappled his assailant. It took five men to pry the drunk from Roy's rigor mortis grip, but by then it was too late; one final life squeezed out, even in death. The story goes that when Roy found no alcohol to be had in Hell, he wrestled the great archdevil himself and twisted his red arm till he agreed to send Roy to Elysium; there he found the only one ever to match his drinking. Some say, in the old taverns of Vramdin, you could see Roy McLeeny in the corner of your eye at the bar past midnight, too drunk to remember he was dead.

In my room, in my closet, where I keep my knick knacks and brickabrack, there is a door; it's not very tall, it's not very wide, but it's there.

I don't know where it goes, I've never really looked.

There's a keyhole, but no knob.

I'm sure it's a door, but there's no hinges.

I can guess to where it leads; back in time, another world, an extra bathroom I never knew about. But I don't know if any of those are right.

I look at it sometimes, when I'm grabbing a shirt or pants or board game; it's hard to miss, it doesn't really blend with the wall or anything. It's just there.

I've been asked about it, at least seven times, but my answer is always the same; "d'iunno."

I think I had the key once, not sure what was made of it, just know it's gone.

So I have a door, in my room in my closet. Not too tall, not too wide, just there.

Maybe I'll get a locksmith to open it for me, maybe I'll just grab a hammer and break it down, or maybe I'll forget about it in the future and never think about it again.

It doesn't bother, a door in my closet, doesn't hurt anyone; the door in my closet.

Sometimes, when I'm looking at it after getting what I'd been looking for in my closet, I knock on it and see if anyone answers on the other side.

So there's a door in my closet, in my room, not too tall and not too wide; just right.

I think I might fit if I ever opened it, but for now I'm not going to; just let it be a door, in my room in my closet, not too tall and not too wide, with no knob and no hinges but a keyhole with no key.

I'll let it be a door, to a dragon's cave or an alien battleship, or to the future where robots do our work and we sit around and twiddle our thumbs and whistle.
