He’ll spend roughly two to three hours making sure his hair is clean and properly fluffed before even thinking about going out in public. It is very vein but being the enchanter of the Order of the stone with Soren, Gabriel, Ellegaard, and Magnus you got to look your best. Ahh~ how foolish he was back then40 -ScentSome say people can remember a specific location based on scent alone, others say the smells of things around us are what make them imagine the most curious things.  Ivor is no different, as he can easily sniff out a fake potion mixture from one done from scratch, and from actual ingredients. He’s simply trained his nose during his time cooking, so it’s no surprise he has a scent for sniffing out his potions as well as any particular potion mixture on say arrows.

That was the logical choice, right? He 𝘵𝘰𝘭𝘥 her to. He gave her the out, made it clear what she was in for if she stayed. He even tried to make a joke out of it, like that would scare her off.

Stephanie wanted to joke.

The quip was right there—𝘰𝘩 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵, 𝘢 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘬𝘦, 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘶𝘱 𝘧𝘰𝘳—but the words get tangled up somewhere in her throat, stuck behind the weight of 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴.

Of him. Of the way he gripped the blanket too tightly, like he was bracing for impact. Of the fact that Jason Todd, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘣𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘯, 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘐-𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵-𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥-𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 person she knew, was actually giving her a way out.

A warning.

That alone made her hesitate.

Stephanie shifted slightly, testing the space between them, letting the silence settle. She should probably go. That was the smart thing to do, right? 𝘎𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘮 𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦, 𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘩𝘪𝘮 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧-𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦.

But she didn’t 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 to leave.

She wasn’t good at leaving.

Not when it mattered.

And if she was honest with herself—really, 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 honest—she was not sure she could even if she tried.

So instead of moving away, instead of taking the easy way out, she just exhaled quietly and lay down, careful to keep some distance between them. Not making a big deal out of it.

Her heart thudded in her chest, her fingers playing with the hem of her sleeve, tugging at the edge of it absentmindedly as she glanced down at him and finally broke the silence.

“I mean, I 𝘥𝘰 value my nose,” she murmured, mostly to herself. “Would kinda suck if you broke it in your sleep.”

She heard the way his voice dipped, how exhaustion wove through every syllable like he was already bracing himself for the worst.

Jason was always so 𝘣𝘪𝘨. Not just physically, but in the way he carried himself. He took up space, filled rooms with his presence, whether he meant to or not. But right now, he looked so 𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘭.

“𝘐 steal blankets in my sleep, so I guess we’re even,” Stephanie murmured, stretching her arms before folding them behind her head.

She risked a glance at him out of the corner of her eye. He hasn’t said anything, hasn’t pushed her away. That was something.

Her throat tightened.

“Kinda figured I’d sleep next to you one day—didn’t think it’d be under 𝘥𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴.” she teased, forcing a small grin.

Still nothing.

Her fingers curled into the fabric of her compression shirt. 𝘖𝘬𝘢𝘺.

Her mind was running circles around itself. Was she making this weird? Should she be doing something else? Would he actually prefer if she left? Should she at least turn over?

Stephanie Brown, making 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥decisions? Unheard of.

“If you start snoring like a chainsaw, I’m kicking you off the bed.” she muttered softly, turning onto her side so she wasn’t staring at his back.

A real wonder why the mortals of the town fear Nik instead of your feminine prowess. Not that I mind. I have taken up the bennet witch as my sort of conquest. @hiimyami Old but still wanted to address it....cause it was in my drafts and forgot to publish it XP (I’m referring to this post, btw engame spoilers the post that linked). Not sure if the “not only this” was pointed at me or at the other comment. (under the cut cause implied spoilers I guess)

Yeah, kinda was ranting, but someone asked why it upset me so it’s not just “to rant” (cause I could’ve just ranted on my own but I didn’t 8U)

I’m aware that “okaeri” isn’t just for couples, I even stated that in the post. But it can be coded as that if someone sees fit. I say this because I’ve seen a fair amount of anime where the hero comes back from a big battle and the love interest is the one that greets him with a “okaeri” and it’s heartwarming and yeah....it’s not automatically romantic but with the right setting it can be viewed as such if one wants to (again, if you wanted to, and AtlusUSA even turns it into a cheeky romantic joke with the option they gave to Goro so they’re aware it can be taken that way). 

By “THE” girl you mean “first girl you meet” I assume? Tbh it makes sense considering if we’re going by the “bookends trope” considering she’s the first one the MC meets and they have a moment. And she’s such a bro to the MC, only other person who is as more of a bro is Ryuji (and Mona), but by this logic Ryu could’ve easily said it too.

I know it would cost money if they did it for all the girls. XP But I what I was saying there was to show I would’ve been mad if it was any other girl/guy who got the translation “Hey there” instead of “welcome home/back.” It was just to prove I wasn’t showing favorites, and that I’m really just upset with the translation. :/ I mean I wouldn’t have minded if they had let the romance option you chose say “Okaeri” and thought it’d be awesome, but I’m aware it costs money so it’s whatevs. The main problem is the translation. That’s all I’m getting at.

Uh in Alone at Sea she smacks Steven across a boat and literally says "I'll shatter you" BECAUSE SHE THOUGHT STEVEN WAS THE REASON LAPIS WOULD NOT FUSE. Lapis wanted to go home, and yes she had made mistakes so she could get home. She was trapped in a mirror for 5,000 YEARS by the Crytal Gems, she's not going to exactly be happy to see them and she didn't understand what they were doing or what she was doing. Peridot was trying survive, she thought the gems were going to shatter her. She didn't know their intentions until Steven actually tried talking to her. She was still scared though, she even though they were going to harvest her. Jasper is not even following orders, she has no way to even get in contact with YD anymore. She is doing this on her own. I don't care if that's what she was made to do, Ruby was made to only guard and Sapphire was basically just an oracle, Pearl was nothing but a servant, and Amethyst was supposed to be like Jasper, and in Crack the Whip,we see she isn't

So first of all I’m gonna get this out of the way. You do realize that post was talking about before Alone at Sea, right? Like it quite obviously meant way before Alone at Sea. Next I’d also like to say I’ve never condoned Jasper’s violent actions and in fact hold her accountable as I do any character on this show because none of them are perfect angels, not even Steven. He’s still a child and has and will make mistakes. Now onto the rant onto my next point:

Okay so trying to kill people because want to go home is a mistake?? It’s understandably a crime of passion but definitely not a mistake. I was hurt and abused before but lashing out at others who didn’t cause me pain is not an excuse. She may now acknowledge she has done wrong but Lapis is far from perfect. She hasn’t apologized to anyone for her actions at all. She is not the only victim when it comes to Malachite. She CHOSE to become Malachite. Jasper may have been pushy and attempted to coerce her into it but she asked both times. Lapis had a choice and chose to trick Jasper and trap her under the ocean for MONTHS on end. Let’s be quite honest, Jasper had been defeated and there was a whole ocean for Lapis to use right there on the shore. You can pull the whole “She was trying to protect Steven” card if you’d like but she had manipulated the situation and trapped Jasper in this instance and admitted to doing so. Jasper had a clear objective, and it was to fuse in order to defeat the Crystal Gems point blank. Lapis doing what she did is not excusable. You don’t just abuse your abuser, you can use self-defense if needed but abusing someone because they abused you isn’t right. Two wrongs DO NOT make a right. Peridot is admittedly more forgivable in that she was in fact trying to survive (which is why Jasper was brought along in the first place) but again she still tried to kill him before being trapped on Earth unless you forgot and has said some nasty things because of her upbringing though she has apologized for it now that she has learned but Lapis has not, there is literally no excuse for not apologizing after all this time. Pretty sure if she broke my father’s leg, his car, and tried to drown me and my best friend I would feel some type of way about it so she’s lucky that Steven and Greg are so forgiving.

Jasper was following orders but at this point in time is trapped on Earth like Lapis and Peridot however she’s going to be harder to reach out to since she’s not like the original two, she’s more intimidating and was made to fight. She is a war veteran who is indoctrinated into Homeworld ideology much longer than Peridot. Lapis likely has forgotten most of those prejudices after being locked in a mirror for thousands of years, those teachings don’t matter anymore now that she’s free and lives on Earth. Peridot was easy to redeem because she is young and logically she felt that Yellow Diamond wrong that and she is less intimidating threat who was made to do maintenance. Ruby and Sapphire had to unlearn Homeworld’s way of thinking because they were forced to and they had thousands of years to figure out. And so on and so forth with the other Crystal gems with the exception of Amethyst. We know next to nothing about Jasper’s background, hell we only know so much about Rose and Pearl besides what’s told by Greg or let loose by one of the Gems. I just want people to stop acting like both Peridot and Lapis are so innocent because Steven just said in the most recent episode and I quote: 

“Usually when I meet a new gem they try to kill me and it takes forever to be friends with them.” Jasper is doing what the other gems have done now that they live on Earth, they reverted to what they were intended to be made for and eventually over time became something more. Jasper, if she gets a redemption arc, is going to be the same and it’ll take a lot more time than Lapis and Peridot because she is different from them with a different experience obviously.

 Let’s review what’s going on with Jasper at the moment. A war veteran who’s job was to assist Peridot on her mission, we’re not entirely sure what happened to Lapis when she returned to Homeworld but it’s clear that they did interrogate her (by Peridot’s apology), and yes I know Jasper slung Lapis around a lot, that is not okay by any means. But anyways she analyzed the situation and deemed the Gems as a non-threat basically getting ready to leave. The only reason she even started fighting them is because she thought Steven was Rose. We literally know nothing about Jasper at this point besides she’s strong, knew Rose, fought in the war, loyal to homeworld/yellow diamond, she’s very calm and analytical and doesn’t fight unless she deems it necessary, and that Jaspers are specifically made to fight. She took the Gems, Lapis, and Steven prisoner because she knew Yellow Diamond would want to see them. Given that information it was clear when she was defeated by Garnet it really threw her off because she’s strong and her Homeworld views is that fusion should only be used as a last resort. Then when she actually fused to fight them she was dragged against her will to the bottom the ocean to be tortured for months, it was really obvious she wanted out the moment Lapis started dragging them in but Lapis pulled her back in thus taking away Jasper’s bodily autonomy, that’s pretty fucking abusive if you ask me especially when Jasper literally screamed “No!” before being dragged in. If Lapis was really trying to save Steven then why not unfuse with Jasper once they were far enough away then using her powers to get away immediately? Instead she kept them in that fusion to take out her frustrations on being trapped for so long. This in turn had affected them both, it wasn’t just Lapis who suffered but also Jasper. All of Jasper’s world views at this point are starting to be tested, the most obvious being fusion. She still feels the same way that Homeworld taught her but at the same time she’s confused because of Malachite. Heck, she’s upset by the whole thing every time she sees a fusion. It visibly frustrated her on “Crack the Whip”. Being on Earth for the amount of time she has, has affected her whether people see it or not. She’s not calm like she used to be, aggressive yes, but not calm. She’s literally manic and lashing out harsher than when both she and Peridot landed the ship in “The Return”. I’m sure if Steven is calmer around her enough to reach out after something detrimental happens to Jasper (because let’s be honest something bad will have to happen in order for her to listen to him long enough) then she’ll be easier to redeem. It seems Steven is willing to forgive her from what Stevonnie said in “Crack the Whip”:  “I don’t want to hear anything you say unless it’s sorry.”  “Are you ready to apologize?” So she’s obviously not too far gone that Steven wouldn’t even bother, he feels that she can eventually change or else why bother even saying that. And if he thinks so I don’t get why people who dislike her don’t. It’s one thing to not like Jasper because she reminds you of your abuser or because you just don’t like aggressive people in general it’s another to be transparent about not wanting her to be redeemed or shattered because of it. It’s especially horrible that people in this fandom are writing off survivors who relate to Jasper and use her to cope. Ya’ll reallly need to understand that SU is trying to teach about moral grays and that it’s not always black and white, good or evil. This show is literally about teaching love, acceptance, understanding, and forgiveness. Jasper hasn’t done anything to warrant love and acceptance yet but she definitely deserves understanding as a character who was described by the creator as being complicated. Lapis is also a pretty complicated character herself and I love her as a character, support her, and understand what she’s been through but what she’s been through does not excuse her of doing bad either, they were not “mistakes”.
