Hmm. I can see how she could have! If he actually atoned for anything or treated the Native characters well or made reparations, he could have served as an allegory for a reformed racist (although that still seems highly suspect).

Unfortunately, his background is like a throwaway trait with zero clarification and you can just TELL smeyer doesn't think there's anything wrong with that. Like @the-olympic-coven said, total author bias.

Stop going off as if you represent all Jasper fans... Reading a reblog in which someone is still shocked at the idea that Lapis abused Jasper and not the other way around, in late April of 2017, is enough to make my blood pressure spike to an unhealthy degree. 

Disagreeing with the idea is one thing (still wrong) but not even realizing that a significant portion of people read their relationship that way, after all this time, is....kind of impressive???

honestly lapis vs jasper discourse is the worst discourse su has made.

like im fine with it if its actual abuse survivors talking and discussing, and i dont think theres really a “bad answer” there, but when people who have never been abused talk about their tragic otp or their trash baby jasper i want them 500 miles away from me.

Ok, I am fucking pissed off. Jasper is an abuser discourse always does that to me, especially ones where the idiot claims "I was abused, and my abuser reminds me of Jasper, so Jasper must be abusive." Especially when they blatantly twist words around and lie, saying, and I quote, "Jasper violently handled Lapis and kept her prisoner on a ship, brought her back to the site of her previous trauma." Umm....that was Peridot, not Jasper. So, congratulations Silver. I don't readily unfollow blogs because of disgust, but I sure did for you.

thank you for that post about jasper vs jacob! i was very unsure how that situation worked, and i suppose that is quite privileged of me, so i’m glad to have an answer!

To be incredibly clear, if it wasn't by the post, this is something I ALSO had to learn and understand. I was really confused because I knew it was different but couldn't express why. I learned from listening to poc on the subject, namely, my lovely wife @bellasredchevy.

I mean I held off on talking about my opinions on the two because I was scared. I was so fucking scared. And when I did Id see a "1" in my inbox and have a fucking panic attack.

It would take me ages to answer and then I just see...its like an rp request or something. But I'm so used to expecting hate and death threats that I almost vomitted seeing a godsmn notification. Hate became normalized. I just expected the cruelty.
