By now, I’m sure most of you have already caught wind of Pretty Lights’ long awaited return. Rainbows and Waterfalls is Derek Vincent Smith’s first release since he dropped Only Yesterday last March. It’s been a long wait, but the esteemed Colorado producer is back with a mighty fine signature serving of old school funk, gritty hip hop, and dubstep. Pretty Lights utilizes Shuggie Otis’ 1971 classic Strawberry Letter 23 as the foundation for the magnificent track, which arrives with an intriguing music video accompaniment. Rainbows and Waterfalls is available from iTunes, here. You can catch Pretty Lights on his live New Year’s Run late December in Detroit, Minneapolis, and Philadelphia, where I’m sure you’ll be blown away anew by the artist’s live genius. Sign up on his mailing list to receive a pass-code for pre-sale, here. Pretty Lights has partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 from every ticket goes to support organizations working to provide rapid emergency relief to those affected by the devastation of Hurricane Maria.
