A Toad's Based On Hydnellum Peckii?

There is a hypothesis that a Toad's Mushroom cap is based on the Hydnellum Peckii. It is claimed they start off as white white red spots which turn brown with age using Toadsworth as an example.

This comparison falls flat on it's face from the start. The Hydnellum Peckii is light pinkish with red translucent spots.

Meanwhile Toad has a white cap with red spots only in his super form, these colors being inverted when they are small. Also, this only applies to some Toads, not all Toads are white with red spots so it can't be universal.

Also, Toadsworth has always had brown spots. We actually see a younger Toadsworth in Mario & Luigi: Partner's In Time and he still has his brown spots.
