As I have done with other muses, I have been quietly working on ‘defaults’ of certain characters. This means that if James needs to make reference to someone, he can do so without having to rely on other interactions. I’ve been attempting to work on vague ideas of the S.eptics, just in case. It’s still a WIP, but I’ll share what I have so far. But don’t reblog this post!

Chase has taken a step back after nearly reaching the point of no return. While his relationship with Stacey is utterly broken, they’ve reached a compromise. He’s dedicating himself to being a stay at home dad, working on edits and smaller projects in the mean time. The kids are a big help in him getting back on his feet, though there’s a lot of help beyond that. James might make mention to him in relation to the kids, or something about video making. Alternatively, the pair work together when recording ‘Jack’s’ videos. They share a common interest in video games and stupid videos they find on the internet.
Marvin is an academic mage. He doesn’t actually take part in any shows as an entertainer. Anything he did for Jack was done as a favour, and a clear parody of how he himself behaves (and possibly a cover for the whole ‘magic is actually real but we don’t want everyone to know’ mindset). If anything, Marvin is more like a mystery with a temper. He’s a man who thinks far older than someone his age should, and his speciality is illusions. James thinks something happened to make Marvin have to relearn some skills, but it’s not something he dares to ask. He enjoys teasing Marvin about his magic and pushing buttons, but it’s always in good jest. James is a big lover of magic, after all, and knowing someone who is able to do such a thing is as big of a thrill as his own superpowers. Naturally, that’s the context he’ll mention Marvin in, but vaguely. It’ll either be a man he knows who can cast magic, or his friend Marvin who is interested in all things magical.
Henrik is a GP who works from home. He did have a degree as a surgeon, but had to step back for “stress” reasons. As much as James likes him, and would often go to him for advice, he can’t shake the feeling that there’s something more going on. Much like Marvin, it’s not something he’s too willing to ask about, so he hopes something accidentally comes up that’ll give him a clue. Since Henrik is the go-to for his injuries, it’ll usually be the topic James will talk about, or in regards to advice he was given.
Seán has been in a coma for quite some time. He and James got along like a house on fire, and it was a joke that out of all the S.eptics, they would be the ones most likely to be related. When not working, James loved having the time to goof around and catch up with Seán. It almost made perfect sense that James would be the one to play the part of ‘Jack’ when tragedy struck. It has taken a lot of work, including asking family and friends to play along, but beyond a small circle, the world is clueless to the truth. It’s still a difficult topic for James, but if it’s brought up, he’ll mention the better days, and not Seán’s current status.
Anti doesn’t physically exist. He’s a computer virus who perfected the ability to travel through the internet and ‘smart’ devices, and can jump from a computer to a phone if the two are close together. From there, he can fake a ringtone, have his target ‘answer’ the phone, and jump into the electrical hardware that is the brain to assume temporary control of them. It’s said that those who have been affected by him the most have been ‘changed’, but James has only seen the side-effects. At present, James is hoping to catch a ‘sample’ of Anti’s coding to try and create a firewall to keep everyone safe. Despite his line of work, he’s never been a direct target of Anti trying to control him, though it’s likely because he has too much electricity in his body as a ‘shield’. At least, that’s James’ working theory currently.
“JJ” is the preferred puppet of Anti’s. Originally, he was an English actor by the name of Arthur, who had dreams of using his quirky gentleman character to help teach sign language to children. Unfortunately, for reasons James isn’t privy to, Arthur found himself constantly being targeted (something about a collab he and Seán did?). Over time, Arthur kicked up so much of a fuss that Anti took matters into his own hands and stripped the actor of his voice so that only Anti can talk. According to the others, Arthur has grown rather timid, showing signs of trauma that he can’t vocalise. The others are trying to help him make some progress to living independently, and all have taken it upon themselves to learn how to understand BSL at the very least, but it’s difficult for him to recover when the threat of Anti looms in every single piece of technology.
At last, a full reference for the hero of the hour!!
I mentioned before that James doesn't have an official superhero uniform, but what he wears is based around running and parkour gear to compliment his athletic skills. The black vest is extra armour with padded shoulders to protect his weak point.
As for the mask? After some investigation, James discovered it was his Sam! Taking the form of the mask, Sam helps manifests the outfit James has picked for his uniform, and dyes both his hair and tips of his beard green. So far, only James himself knows about Sam, and that's only a recent discovery. The easiest way to tell it apart from other Sams is the ribbon-like tail that blends to blue at the tip.
One important difference between the normal Ego lore and what happens here is as follows:
James is the one fronting the channel the most.
Out of all the Egos, he’s the one that fits the part the best. He understands gaming, his accent is practically perfect, his voice only needs to be a slightly higher pitch to match Jack.
How they work it is by batch recording as much as they can one day a week and putting it out over a scheduled time period. This would include James changing clothes and hairstyles. This way, James can still work his double life without too much interference. Why do you think livestreams are normally on Sundays?
When James woke after his encounter with Anti, there was the blue domino mask in his pocket. He never bought it, and no one knew where it came from. However, it’s one of his most valuable assets.
It allows him to transform into his superhero persona without much delay. It also changes his hair from brown to green, adding another degree of separation between James and Jackie. Despite its appearance, it is remarkably sturdy, and always finds its way back to him. James is convinced it has some sort of brain, but has no proof. Or maybe it’s a boomerang. But a mask.
It also has a protective white layer over the eyes to help block out artificial lights, since all the street lights would likely make him sick.
