Yesterday hubby and I went to this great Antique shop in Concord, it was 45 minutes drive but what a treat! "The Depot at Gibson Mill" took me back to memory lane and it was so good. DAY 2 : "Beauty"

They say "be glamorous" (from Scots "glamer" : magic, enchantment, spell). From immemorial time, women have had secrets or rituals of beauty, to which one must be initiated.

Many words in the field of beauty are reminiscent of those used by witchcraft. Which would not be a coincidence ... The witches of olden times prepared remedies and took care of the health and the shape of others, and of themselves. Thanks to their knowledge of plants and nature, they made balms, creams, decoctions and all sorts of "potions" in pots, tubes and containers.

Today, we take care of ourselves more than ever, with the magic hope of stopping time, being fit, healthy and beautiful. We use pots and jars with miraculous actives: "Bewitching Oil", "Highlighting Elixir" ...

Is this what remains of this "witch woman" knowledge, the true magic of knowing all the benefits and virtues of Nature?

Now, is witchcraft reduced to a profitable concept for the cosmetics industry?

Jour 2 : "Beauté"

On dit « avoir du charme » ou « être glamour » (venant de « sortilège »). De tout temps, les femmes ont eu des secrets ou rituels de beautés, auxquels il faut être initié.

De nombreux mots du domaine de la beauté font penser à ceux utilisés par la sorcellerie. Ce qui ne serait pas un hasard… Les sorcières d’autrefois préparaient des remèdes et prenaient soin de la santé et de la forme des autres, et d’elles-mêmes. Grâce à leurs connaissances des plantes et de la nature, elles élaboraient des baumes, des crèmes, des décoctions et toutes sortes de « potions » dans des pots, des tubes et des récipients.

Aujourd’hui, nous prenons plus que jamais soin de nous, avec l’espérance magique d’arrêter le temps, d’être en forme, en bonne santé et belle ou beau. Nous utilisons des pots et des fioles aux actifs miraculeux : « Élixir de jouvence», « Huile ensorcelante », « Eau de sourcellerie »…

C’est ce qui reste de ce savoir « de femme sorcière », de la véritable magie de connaître tous les bienfaits et vertus de la Nature ?

Maintenant, la sorcellerie est-elle réduite à un concept rentable pour l’industrie cosmétique ?
