I'm so happy with this one because without actually realising it, I captured the entire lifecycle of the Oleander Hawk Moth, except the egg phase 😂 These moths are larger than your average fuzzy fliers and could get as big as your palm! Common throughout the sub continent, they feed on variety of flowers and leaves like petunia, Jasmine and honeysuckle. They are slyly referred to as the "poison eating moths" because they feed on the Oleander s which are poisonous to humans! The larva grows from just a few millimetres (first image, look at its size compared to a little Jasmine!), into a caterpillar that measures more than the length of your middle finger (second image), before pupating from twigs or in warm, semi-damp/dry, heavy soil (third image), hatching into the intriguing and slightly terrifying "Army Green HawkMoth" or the "Oleander HawkMoth" in the last image. All these individuals are surely unique and photographed at different periods and locations, makes apparent the widespread yet discreet habitats of these introvert fliers 🖤 . ~A.J. . #hymnofhues . #shotonpocof1 and a prosumer 49mm-macrolens from #apexelindia #natureinfocus . #oleanderhawkmoth #armygreenhawkmoth #poisoneatingmoth #bugsofinstagram #insectsofinstagram #insectphotography #insectsoftheworld #insects_macro #insectsofindia . #macro_brilliance #macro_perfection #gf_macro #macrogrammers #macrophotography . #snapseedindia #natgeoindia #natgeoyourshot #bbcearth #natgeo #bbcwildlife #natgeoindia #lightroom #natgeoyourlens #natgeoasia #sonybbcearth #ANIMALPLANETINDIA . #natgeoyourlens #storiesofindia (at Hyderabad) https://www.instagram.com/p/CXyguqIpTyr/?utm_medium=tumblr
