Minnesota police arrested CNN reporter Omar Jimenez and his crew live on-air early Friday morning after they had clearly identified themselves as press and repeatedly offered to move ‘wherever you want us.’ The crew was released later in the morning after Minnesota’s governor personally intervened. The four fired police officers involved in the fatal arrest of George Floyd have not yet been charged or arrested.

The fact that a reporter of color was arrested for doing his job while a white reporter the same day was able to walk around freely? The fact that Omar Jimenez was respectful and calm and asked MULTIPLE times where the police would like his team to go?? The fact there were maybe six fully armed cops CIRCLED around four unarmed men?? The fact that Omar had every credential in the WORLD to be there being a reporter for CNN?? The fact that this was all FILMED????
they arrested omar jimenez on live TV because of what? because he was black? they left his white colleague josh campbell alone. this is a clusterfuck. with the police vandalism being exposed and a black reporter being arrested for no reason on live tv they fucked up real good.
I hope I wake up on Monday morning and find that this video has as many views as TWICE’s “MORE & MORE” MV. It won’t happen, but I can hope for it.
(Pro-tip: watch “MORE & MORE” *after* you watch this one. It should help soothe the anger and disbelief.)
Police arrest CNN correspondent Omar Jimenez and crew on live television
This is fucked up. When journalism is suppressed it is the first signs that a democracy crumbles.
I remember when the Bundespräsident in Germany once called a journalist and left a message on his mailbox that enough is enough and that he won’t take that reporting anymore (without doing anything, just the mailbox recording) and was removed from his position. Journalist can not be threatened or arrested for doing their jobs.
Would the State police in Minneapolis have arrested the brown CNN reporter (on live TV) if their faces hadn’t been obscured by gas masks?
The full clip of the CNN correspondent getting arrested for a bogus reason. They were respectful. Deal with the rioting and looters not with someone doing their job.
