doru kava’i

The doru kava'i is a rare tree found in the world of Omateko. Like all of Omateko's trees, their trunks are green. The branches, however, have a sort of splotchy yellow color over them. It’s a 5 meter tall tree with lavender flowers and leaves. 

The doru kava'i blooms sweet smelling, velvety flowers once a year that act as an aphrodisiac. Suckling its nectar straight from the flower does the trick, but so does boiling it into a tea. When these flowers are left unpicked, they ripen into drupes, similar to cherries. Small "berries" with a seed in the center. Its bark has a sweet flavor to it too, allowing it to become a sweet snack for the inhabitants of Amoa. Everything else is inedible, but do serve a different purpose. The tree's leaves are made into a lavender dye, and its roots can be dug up and burnt as a calming insence. It can also be used for sleep aid.

Due to the tree’s rarity, as well as its solitary growth, its harvested parts are normally seen as very valuable, only ever available for important uses.

Oha Tasoa! Greeting system and culture.

The people of Omateko greet each other with the phrase "Oha tasoa!" The phrase itself is considered formal, and can be shortened and used numerous ways. Generally if speaking informally the phrase Oha Tas is used, but the phrase can even be shortened to Oha. Those who are considered very energetic/cutesy say "Oha oha." Similarly, "Tasoa" or even just "Tas" is used as goodbye. The entire phrase "Oha Tasoa" actually doubles as hello and goodbye.
