The child from Omelas is an egg and every TME person around her can only sleep at night because of their denial of that fact. They abuse her every day, they traumatize her every chance they get, and her suffering is the scaffolding holding up a society managed by gender and sex.
The child from Omelas is not a hypothetical. I've met her. I've met hundreds of her. You've met her too, if you can bring yourself to recognize her for what she is.
She's matters to me more than every other person in the world combined. I do transfeminism for her, first and foremost. I do transfeminism because it's the only way I know to help her.
hate that people interpret omelas as a thought experiment and not as ursula k. le guin saying, "look here now; why must you have violence? why do you accept the city more with misery? how can so many gaze upon this child rotting—let this child rot—and not imagine a world better? is this what you want to be?"
I'm all for the freedom of speech but the Omelas anti-child-suffering activists got a little extreme and started breaking into the child torture cellar and getting the thing out as a form of political protest, so we've had to set up a decoy suffering child in a different child torture cellar to throw them off, and if the story ended there it'd be fine because it turns out that having two suffering children in two torture basements makes the city double utopian, with double the social safety nets and extra universal healthcare and like twice the amount of scientific advancement. But that also meant we needed a second decoy child, justified by the existence of the first, and since the second decoy child made the utopia three times perfecter they're adding a fifth and sixth child torture cellar now. To make sure no one suffers
I would walk away from America Omelas-style, but we have very poor pedestrian infrastructure
I'm really proud of how this attack turned out. @mikaaria0's Omelas always occupies a place in my heart.
The people from Zood are making Omelas-ass arguments like ‘yeah Zern is being fucked but our life is sooooo good’
