what is it about yoonminseok that you love so much? :)

Jeez okay this is one of those times where I need my PowerPoint team of @fauxamber @ronthany and @uziregar to help me out. Okay. Um. Let’s see if I can say this concisely.

First, individually - they are three of my favorite people that I don’t actually know but feel like I understand on some level. I’ve rambled about why I love Yoongi already. With Hoseok, I feel sort of a kindred spirit kind of thing. Not that I’m bubbly to that level, or even half his level, and he is far more confident (outwardly) than I could ever dream of being. But I’ve spent an astounding amount of my life being more concerned with making sure other people are happy, trying to keep them afloat, and then when it comes to myself, I don’t really care that much and it’s just this big bundle of sadness and worry that I shove aside and ignore until it becomes too much. And that seems to be the way Hoseok operates. Except with Yoongi. But I’ll get to that later.

Jimin...is honestly just refreshing. He’s like stepping outside after being cooped up in a house for days, breathing in stale air and smelling something vaguely unpleasant but you can’t find the source. And then when you get outside, it’s like you’ve never had fresh air before and it’s so wonderful and overwhelming and there’s grass and nice flowers and everything is good. He’s a good person.

So when you smush them all together, it becomes this really fascinating balance. They all bring something to the table so that it becomes a fancy buffet. Yoongi knows how to help Hoseok with his not-so-sunshine times. Jimin knows how to get Yoongi to be 10% less brusk. Hoseok knows his way around both of them. It’s just a really great dynamic. And I love the dynamics of basically ALL Bangtan pairings, but Yoonseok/Yoonmin/Jihope speak to me the most and when you throw them all together, the to-be-tall team is a really amazing force.

i reread lmiolmd in its entirety last night, and a couple of random questions popped into my head.... first. that scene at the amusement park, where jimin and jungkook have this "moment"; a kind of stare down -- what was that? were they sizing each other up or something, being alphas & all? was it like kookie feeling territorial over his bro and jimin just asserting his presence?

second. that scene when i think yoongi goes to jimin's apartment for the first time, and they have that talk, and yoongi says that he's fucked up, & jimin says something like he's seen and done more fucked up things? im curious as to what exactly those past experiences are.... are we going to learn a bit more about jimin's backstory? i dunno, he just seems so perfect y'know? he kinda makes me nervous lol

No, but seriously. The thing with Jimin and Jeongguk was more or less Jeongguk having weird alpha feelings because this stranger might hurt his brother and he clearly has to protect Yoongi. Jimin thought nothing of it, though. He’s kinda used to that sorta random posturing.

Jimin’s backstory is forthcoming! It’s...honestly not even very salacious? Just typical dumb teen things. And trying to make Yoongi not feel like a terrible person. 90% of Jimin’s motivation is trying to make Yoongi not feel like a terrible person. But no, he’s not perfect. And right now he kinda seems that way because that’s how Yoongi’s seeing him. That...is gonna change pretty damn soon.

But...... Your writing is so good! Honestly! And I'm a pretty avid reader (and not just of fanfic). You are good. Really. I like the way you word things. After reading fanfic for a while, things tend to sound more and more similar. Like, you start to pick out patterns in the writing, and notice how some writers seem to fall into this formulaic way of writing out scenes and dialogue. But yours is truly like a breath of fresh air. Please don't feel bad, you're wonderful :)

Thank you, really and truly. I appreciate this a lot. And I feel bad whining because I don’t want people to think I’m fishing for compliments because no, no it really is just me having a “wow I am terrible at this, why aren’t I as good as so and so” moment. And I think all writers go through that, where they just want to set everything they’ve written on fire and then dump the ashes into a river. And it’ll pass and I’ll be okay. I just wish it didn’t happen so often, ugh. I just wanna write fun things and have people enjoy the things and talk to me about the things!
