Viktor falls into step with him as they traipse along the coastal trail. Already the faint sound of Highland music is wafting over from the boardwalk, lit on this warm late April night with enough golden fairy lights to rival the stars. Yuuri’s hand finds Viktor’s as they lead Makkachin around Torvill Point, only pausing to watch a shooting star wink across the sky above. “A touch of beauty before the eternity of oblivion,” Viktor breathes as he takes Makkachin’s lead, echoing words from a lifetime ago. Yuuri leans against him, grateful that the sea-winds aren’t too brisk tonight. ‘Maybe we’ll be able to spend eternity together like this,’ he says, and the next time he looks at Viktor, the man’s eyes seem shinier than usual. “You’d want to spend eternity with me?” he asks. Yuuri laughs. ‘I’d be honoured,’ he replies, and before he knows it Viktor has grabbed him by the waist, spinning him around with merry laughter. Makkachin barks; Viktor grins as he sets Yuuri down and grabs the lead again, pulling Yuuri close and kissing him as if it’s the last thing he would ever do.
A commission I did for @omgkatsudonplease ^w^ Illustration from one of their fics! :DDD Very cute ^w^ Give it a read! <3
dog show au where yuuri registered his purebred toy poodle "viktor nikiforov" and ends up competing at the same show as the actual viktor
prompt after my own heart (Dommi Disclaimer: if you can “adopt, do not shop” for your dogs. Breed specific rescues exist if your heart is set on a purebred animal, and they can help you too!If you have specific needs in a pet such as for a service animal which usually requires having the dog from puppyhood, please go to your chosen breed’s club website and find a reputable breeder. If the breeder you choose will not let you tour the facilities or only lets you meet certain dogs, has puppies basically on demand, and is not your national breed club approved...it is likely a mill. Reputable breeders will have waiting lists, sometimes as long as a year, for their puppies and you will be required to be vetted first as well as pay a deposit.
Please support rescues or shelters first and foremost, but if you must buy a breeder puppy, do so responsibly!)
Mari’s never let him hear the end of this since age 18, and now Yuuri is paying dearly for it.
Vicchan is a lovely, flawless specimen of the toy poodle breed. His bite is strong and well-aligned, his coat is the perfect texture and sheen, his eyes are clear, his temperament calm and obedient. Against all odds, his family finally made it to Westminster with Vicchan.
Yuuri wears a suit with a patterned blue tie and tries not to upchuck all over the Garden.
See, the thing is...Vicchan’s registered name is “Katsuki’s Victor Nikiforov.” As in the world famous owner of multi-time champion Makkachin, who is loved beyond compare in the world of kennel clubs and green carpets.
A man...currently judging Vicchan while he stands perfectly still on a raised platform. Victor the Human Yuuri has never ever fantasized about make outs with checks Vicchan’s teeth. “He’s beautiful,” he says after a moment.
“We think so,” Mari says. Her visible piercings and bleached hair make her a bit of a stand out among all the hairspray and pearls. She gives zero fucks as always.
A taller judge with blond hair and round glasses inspects Vicchan’s haunches. “He’s very well-bred, yeah. I can’t see a single flaw.”
Yuuri nods politely. Mari smiles.
“Vicchan,” Victor the Human says. “Almost like -- “ He checks the official registration info which features Vicchan’s full name. “Oh.”
Yuuri winces, then chooses an escape route. “Mari chose it! It was solely her! I had nothing to do with it! Who even is this dog?”
Vicchan gives Yuuri an odd face, and he will apologize for a week in recompense. However, Mari turns in slow motion with eyes full of rage and murder aimed at Yuuri. “What.”
Human Victor’s smile is a bit disappointed. He leans close to Yuuri, dropping his voice low. “I was hoping you are my fan,” he whispers as he touches Yuuri’s lower back.
Yuuri spontaneously combusts.
Victor and the other judges move to a sour looking guy’s Husky as they’re onto the working dogs next. Yuuri has a sudden need for a velvet divan, smelling salts, and a fan made of crimson-dyed ostrich feathers.
What he gets instead is a slap upside the head from his older sister punctuated with indignant, shrill Japanese curse words.
Vicchan does not win Best in Show but he does win Best in Group, and it’s better than they could have hoped.
February in New York carries winds that bite against Yuuri’s cheeks, and when Mari suggests Le Bernadin to celebrate, Yuuri agrees because he’s starving and they can justify the fancier than usual fare thanks to their win. Vicchan winning means more notoriety for their kennel, and that means more money which will be good for their legacy.
As Yuuri puts on a mask and wraps a scarf around his neck, a tap on the shoulder alerts him to Human Victor. He’s in thick camel wool and leather gloves. “Yuuri, I was hoping...your Vicchan is lovely,” he finishes kind of...well, lamely to be honest.
Yuuri stares in confused crush since high school.
“You’re lovely,” Victor blurts next, then turns red, then coughs.
“You’re doing great, honey,” calls the bespectacled blond judge from before. Is he sarcastic? No one knows for sure.
Mari, snorting as she gets out a cigarette, seems to think sarcasm. “You kids have fun,” she deadpans. “I’ll see what Mom’s college friend is up to. She lives on the UWS.”
Yuuri barely registers her leaving. Victor is a bit blushy still, but Yuuri is fairly confident he’s no better. “Do you like caviar, Yuuri?”
“Ah...yes,” Yuuri manages. “Do you?” He winces. Victor asked him. He’s a dingus.
“You’re also doing great, honey,” blond judge adds with a slow clap.
Yuuri’s sigh is both loud and baleful.
“Caviar Russe?” Victor tries. He gestures at the blond judge, who pretends to read the Wall Street Journal instead.
“Sure,” Yuuri replies.
After taking a cab to their destination, Victor opens doors, holds out chairs, orders with Yuuri’s approval, and they exchange numbers before he brings Yuuri back to his Air BNB.
He may linger as he kisses Yuuri’s cheek goodnight, and Yuuri may let him.

modern au lan xichen sings to his playlist in the car. all. the time.
“Give a little respect,” Lan Xichen sings, the note slightly off-key as he dances behind the wheel. “Toooo meeeeeeee!”
Lan Wangji manages to suppress his wince before taking a look at the traffic ahead of them. The traffic that seems to go on for miles which leaves him listening to Lan Xichen jam out to the Backstreet Boys and A-ha.
...He should have accepted Wei Wuxian’s offer for a ride when he had the chance and now he’s been left with his regrets.

“Ain’t it funny, ain’t it funny I made you laugh every time we spoke I locked my heart in hesitation But somehow, you cracked the code I tore down my walls And wrecked the ceiling Ready to bare it all, but
You’re looking at her, she’s looking at you I’m falling apart, what can I do To make you feel that way about me too?
And it’s getting hard, I’m not gonna lie To keep in the dark all I’m feeling inside When you walk in smelling like her perfume What was I thinking? I’m just the funny girl to you”

“Good morning, Yuuri!”
It’s always said that way, with such carefree joy, the cadence of someone with no weight on his shoulders. You can almost imagine the words displayed on the bottom of a fuzzy CRT television, with a little bouncing red ball hovering over each syllable as it leaves his lips: Good morning, Yuuri!
And it is a good morning, every single time, because those words always precede the appearance of Victor’s silvery hair as he comes up the steps; his eyes come next, arrestingly blue and framed by stunning lashes, then his lips—and this is the point where Yuuri always forces his eyes away, because he’s staring again.
“Good morning, Victor,” he replies demurely, as he always does.
He drags his eyes back now, forcing himself to make eye contact, even though it breaks his heart every single time. His mouth opens automatically, programmed by hopeless desire, and Yuuri puts on a sly smile by sheer muscle memory alone as he asks the question he asks every single morning:
“Victor, will you marry me?”
Victor’s eyes light up, and his practiced smile cracks open slightly to reveal something wider—something truer.
“Alas, dearest Yuuri,” he sighs, with just the right blend of dramatics and emotion so that Yuuri can pretend, just for a second, that he’s serious, “I’m afraid that today I must decline. Ask me again tomorrow?”
Yuuri nods, his cheeks aching from holding his smile, and as Victor turns to head into his office the sunlight glints off the gold engagement ring on his finger.
Alone at last, Yuuri slumps into his chair, cradling his head in his hands.
I can’t keep doing this, he says to himself, just as he does every day. He used to keep count, but it became too depressing, as every day Yuuri asks Victor to marry him and every day Victor says no in the kindest way possible, the sting of rejection renewed over and over again in the worst sort of time loop imaginable.
Worse still, it’s a prison of his own making. Last Christmas, Yuuri drank sixteen glasses of champagne, and in a fit of liquid courage he had sauntered up to his goddamn boss who he’d been in love with for forever and had asked, loudly: Victor-will-you-marry-me. And when Victor had stopped—when the whole ballroom had stopped, it felt like—Yuuri had burst out laughing, because that’s what you do when your spontaneous declaration of love is met with a less than enthusiastic response.
Yuuri had assumed he was fired, but Victor had laughed too, and the next day he came up the steps of the office as usual and had stood in front of Yuuri’s desk.
“Do you need something?” Yuuri had asked, swallowing a wave of hangover nausea.
“Yeah,” Victor had replied softly. “I need you to ask me to marry you again.”
“I—what?”
Victor had smiled—a smaller smile, a shy one—and fiddled with the ring on his finger. “I liked it,” he confessed, and Yuuri swore he saw the hint of a blush creep across Victor’s cheeks. “It’s a very sweet joke. You should joke more often, Yuuri.”
And now here they are. And every morning, before he gets coffee or delivers the mail or collects paperwork, Yuuri Katsuki asks the man he loves to marry him, and every day he hears no. Every day Yuuri overhears Victor arguing with his fiance about wedding plans; every day he tries not to eavesdrop as Victor’s whole love life plays out behind the frosted glass door, the sounds of strife bleeding out from the gap under the door.
Victor, will you marry me?
Yuuri sighs.
He should tell jokes more often. It’s just a shame that they’re always at his expense.

Introducing Issue 1 Writer, Lily Winterwood!
Writing that is as delicately poetic as it is strikingly powerful — such are the waters Lily Winterwood treads on a regular basis, bending language to her will and creating beauty with the same ease as others breathe. Each detail in her stories creates a captivating ambience, drawing the reader in with each word and molding her readers’ emotions as if from clay. Be it a supernatural world, a royalty AU, the mafia, serial killers, or science-fiction, it is undeniable we are helpless against whatever story she chooses to unfold before us.
