Diegetic interface via omni-tool
CONFESSION:
I know it’s not really that important in the large scheme of things, but I would like it a lot if BioWare showed us in the next game what an Omni-tool and omni-gel look like and how they work, as well as giving us a definitive answer as to which barrel of the guns fire the metal slugs and which is for the range finder. And also, how exactly do powers like concussive shot work. Again, it’s not really that big of a deal, but I think these little details would help with immersion and making the universe feel “real”.

@ellebeedarling suggested the boys cutting down a Christmas tree and I had the vision of Shepard bringing an ax, ready to draw on his inner lumberjack for his first time tree hunting. Kaidan just chuckles and activates his Omni Blade.
The most common melee design is the "omni-blade," a disposable silicon-carbide weapon flash-forged by the tool's mini-fabricator. The transparent, nearly diamond-hard blade is created and suspended in a mass effect field safely away from the user's skin. Warning lights illuminate the field so the searing-hot blade only burns what it is intended to: the opponent.
Ahhh I got myself an early Christmas present. :p
