can we point and laugh at this. i just spent like an hour ranting about it but i need to point and laugh at it. its a modern garment based around events of jew murder in the 80s and they have the nerve to say israeli women have no history or culture. as if they didnt force jews to dress in specific identifying and often humiliating outfits for hundreds of years. as if they didnt build shit on top of OUR temple. also they are calling the city חברון instead of whatever colonial name they slapped on it lmao

I gotta say, I rolled my cursor over this short, saw the guy with the Palestine scarf and almost didn't watch it because I assumed the video was gonna be about something entirely different from what it was actually about (it's actually about the workers of the British Library striking). Something something omnicause.Honestly not sure if I'm criticizing this guy for having such a distracting piece of swag for a cause unrelated to what he's striking about, Jenny Draper for putting him at the top of her video, or if as a librarian i just wanted to bring focus to a library strike

Making fun of this account is sort of low hanging fruit but this illustrates a certain point

The economic myopia of socialist/communist movements causes them to de-emphasize social liberties as “distractions” at best. Nothing matters except for unions and 20th century ideas of what workers look like and want so they really only reluctantly pay attention to social issues like women’s rights or gay rights

Inevitably, they come to the conclusion that things like gay rights are bourgeois luxuries that we should only talk about after liberating the entire world from capitalism (and also probably not deal with it then either)
