suomitumpun käsistäkätevät: mistä aloitan jos haluan ruveta tekemään itelle vaatteita? mistä löytyy kaavoja ja ohjeita ilmaiseksi ja/tai halvalla? onko jollakin sattumalta hollilla vetoketjulla varustettua kolitsipaidan ohjetta (vähän ku huppari mutta ilman huppua)? netti on täynnä paskan lisäksi niin monenlaista lähdettä että pienen ihmisen pää sekoaa D: (edit: siis ommella osaan ja konekin löytyy, tarkoitin että mistä aloittaa specifically vaatteiden ohjeiden metsästyksen, väsyaivot ei vaan osaa selittää)

Noniin yritin käsinommella mun n. 45 haalarimerkkiä. Sain yhteensä 6 laitettua mut sit neula meni rikki 4:nen kohdalla, mut sain sen loppuun. Viidennen kohdalla se siis meni ihan katki (lol) ja toisella neullalla yrittäessä ei tullut mitään, ei menny kangaasta eikä merkistä läpi. Perkele ihan uudet neulat!!

Se on nyt siis kangasliima aika, vaikka "perinteitä" rikkotaan. Ei kykene. Ei jaksa. Ei pysty.

Sain eilen valmiiksi mun kesämekkoprojektin! Kyllä, nyt on marraskuu, mutta koska tykkään että mun vaatteet on käytettävissä ympäri vuoden, tein siitä sen kokoisen että alle saa hyvin laitettua tarvittaessa pitkähihaisen paidan. Oon hirmu tyytyväinen siihen miten hyvä tästä tuli, tuntuu että tää on 100% mua niin mallin kuin värinsä puolesta!

Alkuperäinen malli SIMISỌLÁ on julkaistu Tauko-lehden numerossa 8 / 2023 ja sen on suunnitellut Tammy Silver. Muokkasin sitä jonkun verran ittelleni sopivaksi, koska halusin symmetrisen pääntien ja käytin mekon ylä- ja alaosassa keskenään eri kokoja. Yhden rintamuotolaskoksen sijasta käytin kahta laskosta, toinen suunnattuna sivusaumaan ja toinen vyötärösaumaan. Vyötärö on myöskin vähän alkuperäistä korkeampi, koska laskin väärin kuinka monta senttiä laskoksiin oli mennyt ja huomasin virheen vasta kun olin jo leikannut kappaleet. Onneks ero oli vain 4cm ja nykyinen vyötärölinja istuu mulle hyvin.

Ohjeet oli hyvät ja selkeät ja poikkesin niistä ainoastaan yhdessä kohtaa kun helmasin peplumin ennen kuin kiinnitin sen hameeseen. Itse lehti sekä kaava-arkki olivat laadukasta paperia ja kaava-arkin merkinnät näkyi hyvin koska yhdellä puolella ei ollut älyttömän paljon kaavoja, joten siitä oli mukava kopioida.

Materiaalilöpinä: Päällikangas on 100% puuvillaa (menekki 2.8m ennen 5% kutistumaa, pakan leveys 1.4m) ja koko mekko peplum-helmaa lukuun ottamatta on vuorattu puuvillapopliinilla (97% puuvillaa ja 3% elastaania, menekki 2.15m ennen 5% kutistumaa, pakan leveys 1.4m). Lisäksi käytin n. 5 metriä 20mm vinonauhaa, 200m ompelulankaa ja n. metrin kuminauhaa.

Nyt voin olla ihana keltanen valopilkku syksyn harmauden ja talven synkkyyden keskellä <3

The summer dress (linked post in Finnish) is finished! Despite it being November I'll be able to wear it because I made the dress with wintertime in mind, which means the dress has enough ease to fit a long-sleeved shirt underneath. I'm very happy with how it turned out and I feel like the dress is 100% me!

The original pattern SIMISỌLÁ was published in Tauko magazine issue 8 / 2023 and it is designed by Tammy Silver. I had to edit the pattern somewhat for fit and because I wanted a symmetric necline. The bodice and dress are of different sizes to fit me properly. For the bust, I used two darts instead of the single dart in the pattern. The waistline is also higher than in the pattern, because I made a calculation error when making the side seam dart larger, and did not realise until after cutting the pattern pieces. Luckily the difference is only 4cm and the waisline looks good on me.

The instructions provided with the pattern were clear and I only stayed from them once when I hemmed the peplum before sewing it onto the dress. The magazine and pattern sheet were of good quality paper. Markings on the pattern sheet were comfortable to trace because they were clear and not too many patterns were crammed on one sheet.

Materials: The fashion fabric is 100% cotton (metrage 2.8m before 5% shrinkage, fabric width 1.4m) and the whole dress apart from the peplum hem is flatlined with a cotton poplin (97% cotton, 3% elastane, metrage 2.15m before 5% shrinkage, fabric width 1.4m). In addition to the fabrics I used approximately 5m of 20mm bias tape, 200m of thread and around a meter of elastic band.

I did some more #sewing over the weekend. I wanted to do the summery top again (that I tried last weekend), but this time I made it a bit tighter, did a round neck (instead of a V) and added some ties for the back (-> swipe). I am really happy with the fit and with the neckline (only the 2nd time that I tried understitching). I will definitely do this again but with a slightly smaller neckline. Summer crafting ... It's somehow too hot to knit, so I thought I'd try a bit of sewing again - a wide summery top made in a freeform kind of way from leftovers and old t-shirts. Sewing again - this time I tried out a summer top inspired by a pattern by @soseweasyofficial . As usual, I was too lazy to print out the 16 pages and piece them together, so I took the  measurements from a top that I already had - changing the neckline in the process. However, I used their brilliant tutorial which enabled me to sew the side vents. This is the first time I've ever tried understitching on a V-neck facing - and it looks (quite) OK.
