During the last week of July, the city of Omuta hosts the famous Daijiyama dragon festival with more than a dozen dragon floats. From what I’ve pieced together, local legend holds that there was once a battle between a dragonsnake and a crab on nearby Mt Miike. The crab defeated the dragon, creating 3 (healing?) ponds, of which one still exists today. During this festival, people are held up to the mouth of the dragons, which is believed to bring protection from illness. 高齢者が多く住む市営団地が取り壊されるにあたって、住民のみなさんが新しい団地に引っ越しする際の〈リロケーションダメージ〉を減らすための試みの一つです。専門職が住民とコミュニケーションを取りやすくするため、メンバーの自己紹介や、団地を大切に思っていること、捨てられないものの開示などを記事にしています。読みやすよう文字を大きくしたり、他のチラシ等との差別化を図るためリソグラフで印刷したりなど、工夫をしています。

NTTサービスエボリューション研究所 大牟田パーソンセンタードコンセプトブック 〈みらいのおへそ〉

認知症ケアの文脈でパーソンセンタード・ケアに取り組んできた福岡県大牟田市を舞台に、人間を理性的で合理的で言語的な〈あたま〉だけでなく、感性的で本能的で非言語的な〈おへそ〉の部分にも注目して考えようと取り組んだ冊子。話題はケアの領域から、子ども→動物→建築→働き方→ものづくりサービスにまで広がりました。言葉にならないものを、いかにテキストで写真でデザインで表現するか、七転八倒した仕事でしたが、本当に印象深い仕事になりました。いまの自分の仕事のスタンスにつながっています。
