It’s the same show I’ve been putting on for years, what changed?

Maybe it was never as convincing of a performance as I thought.

Emails I've gotten recently.

Grandma: Hey, Corn, don't forget about your mother for mother's day.

The day after mother's day I had flashbacks about every instance of my mom failing to protect me from predatory people in my life. I even told my grandma that I've always felt like my mom just doesn't want me around, but okay, whatever.

A few days later...

Grandma: Dissappointed to hear you didn't email your mother for mother's day, she would've appreciated it.

No one emailed me to wish me happy birthday last month, so get bent and get the memo. I'm done caring for people who only pretend to.

Thinking about this one time I yelled at my mom when she almost got us T-Boned by a truck and I yelled at her, "What the fuck are you doing? If you want to kill yourself fine, but don't do it when me in the damn car!"

It has been 5 years since I got my appendix out.

The scars which are barely visible unless pointed out still haunt me slightly.

Though not because of the surgery itself, no. It's of the inaction of my family when I said it hurt so bad at 4 in the morning.

I had chronic appendicitis for 2-3 years and it could've burst that morning. I could've been in critical condition or dead.

But they would've rather saved money than my life.

I hope it was worth it.
