If Perseus didn't exist I could imagine Oya being shipped with Kung lao, Rain, Cassie Cage and possibly Raiden if it wasn't for their already master and student relationship. mk1 raiden is free game.
Like in mk11 Raiden sacrifices himself to bring Liu kang back to light side. Upon awakening Liu Kang finds himself in a strange dimension, a land of eternal dawn surrounded by moving grass and luscious green mountains.
While there he encounters the original fire lord. Earthrealm's first Fire God, Hosanna. The lord of Fire arrives to give him a message. In essence Liu Kang has been chosen as his successor.
Although it was Raiden's decision to make Liu kang a God. Hosanna is simply the messenger. Liu Kang wakes up from his vision now transform into a God of Fire.
Kotal is my all time favorite, he gets his own tier.
I love these characters: Shao Kahn is my second favorite. I like Hanzo Hasashi, Johnny Cage, Liu Kang (Both Mortal and God versions) I really like God Raiden, Reptile, Ermac and Erron Black. I really like Jade. She is cool, she is green and even though the romance between her and Kotal came out of nowhere I think the ship is rather cute. I really like both Kitana and Mileena. I like Kuai Liang, Female Khameleon, Fujin, Shinnok, Tanya, Onaga, Ashrah, Sareena, Johnny Cage, Geras and Takeda. I really like Sindel in all her games with the exception of mk11 that version of her was trash. I really like Female Cyrax. Normally I don’t like genderbend characters but Cyrax surprised me with how good she was written.
Has Potential (Characters that would be better if they had some improvements): Male Chameleon has great potential to be something more. Like I have plans for him to be written as Onaga’s son, true heir to Outworld’s throne. Meat has potential to be good if you retcon him to be a different character. For example I have an original character called Hadokuro who is a replacement for meat. Instead of being one of Shang’s experiment, Hadokuro is one of Onaga’s undead soldiers that was spared from the mass suicide ritual. Kronika would have gotten into the garbage tier and erased from history, but I believe I may have the solution to fix her. First you make her an Elder God, second you make her the One Being’s living vessel.
Noob Saibot would have been fine but I see him with potential. Perhaps as the Elder Gods’ Champion similar to Scorpion in the midway timeline. You could do some parallels with this plot. Sonya Blade is fine as a character but she could have story potential if she was made a Revenant. Kintaro is the most boring out of the three Shokan but I think he has the most potential to be the best out of the three. I’ve got plans for the kitty cat. Smoke is pretty good though I see potential in him playing a villain role. The only reason Jezebel isn’t in straight up garbage please erase them from history is because I see potential in her being a Sindel imposter plot line. Kai has some potential to be really good if the writer knew how to use him. Drahmin has the potential to be something greater. My current running idea is to make him a formally God of Outworld, be killed by Onaga and imprisoned by Shinnok to be remade into a weapon for evil. Li Mei has the potential to be written as a double agent for the Holy men. Nitara would have gone into dislike but I see potential in her being better written. Dairou, Darrius and Hotaru have potential to be something greater if the writer did something with Orderrealm. Mk1 Havik has Potential considering he is this timeline's Dairou and you could do some interesting stuff with that information.
Cassie is alright if not a bit annoying. But she could be better. I would have rewritten her as a famous female wrestler. Ferra has potential to be something great. Ultimately she and Torr are fine in mkx, though I would rewrite Ferra to be formally from Earthrealm. Cetrion has potential to be something greater. She should be written as the voice of reason among the elder gods, but also have a secret envy that holds her back. This envy may or may not be taken advantage of by a certain fallen elder god. Dark Raiden has potential to be something greater if the writer had the guts to keep him around. Kobra has Potential if you write him as a Saurian.
Fine / Tolerable: Bi-han is fine overall, though he could have done with some better writing. Goro just exist. Game Kano is fine, he serves his purpose well. In the movies though he’s great and entertaining. Shang Tsung is fine. Kung Lao is fine. Baraka is Tolerable. Blaze is fine as a story plot but he’s nothing more than a living macguffin. Kabal is fine. Nightwolf is fine. Frost is fine. Kenshi is already. Shujinko is ok as a character. Skarlet serves her purpose. Kung Jin is pretty good, but not enough to make him a favorite. Mortal Raiden is fine though I wish Kung Lao had been the protagonist of mk1. Bo’ Rai Cho is tolerable. He would have gotten into like tier but I really don't like his kombat style.
Boring as Hell: Jaxs is boring. Male Cyrax and Sektor are boring. Motaro is boring which is a shame cause the Centaurians should be explored more. Stryker is boring. Reiko is boring. Hsu Hao is boring. Mavado is boring. Mokap is boring. Kira is boring. Although as a story idea you have her be a Red Dragon defector. Daegon and Taven are nothing burgers. Daegon's only saving grace is that he is the leader of the Red Dragon. Taven has nothing going for him. Triborg is boring and only exists to make all Cyborgs playable in mkx. Tremor is boring. Despite one of my earlier statements, Torr is boring. Only Ferra is the interesting one out of the two.
I don’t like them: Female Sektor is annoying as hell and a big simp for an already badly written character. The only reason NRS change their gender is because they are too cowardly to make Sektor gay. Sheeva is really annoying. Quan Chi is bad, he steals a lot of aura from Shang Tsung. But he does serve a purpose as Shinnok’s right hand. I don’t like Mk1 Tanya, they just turned her into Jade 2.0. I don’t like D’Vorah. However she is a unique fighter
Straight up garbage characters should be erased from the series: Jarek is a cheap replacement for Kano. He shouldn’t exist, get rid of him. However if you wanted to redeem him you could have him as Kano’s son. Moloch is a waste of space, get rid of him. Jacqui Briggs is boring and a waste of a character slot. Get rid of her. Cole Young is a very bad character. I know Floyd is a joke character but his only purpose is to replace Chameleon. Shouldn’t exist, get rid of him. Kollector is ok but he’s kind of useless to the plot. He won’t be missed if he was erased.
I've have plenty of thoughts of how to rewrite Chameleon. Drahmin and Saurian Kobra are only recent ideas and they may need further development.
Chameleon is the son of Onaga and a Saurian Concubine, which makes Chameleon a Saurian Dragon hybrid. Onaga saw potential in him and decided to take him under his wing. This action makes Chameleon the true heir to Outworld. Since Shao Kahn overthrew Onaga, the new Emperor saw him as a threat and Chameleon has been on the run ever since. Hiding and waiting for the chance to reclaim his lost legacy.
Chameleon leads the Lava Shrine Priests in preserving the Great Dragon Egg.
At some point he joins Shang Tsung and Quan Chi forming the Deadly Trinity. Then backstabbed them when Onaga came back.
In the NRS Trilogy Chameleon doesn't do much, except preparing the way for Onaga's return in the background. But here a little fun fact. If Kotal haven't started the civil war with Mileena, Chameleon would have been the one to do so.
In the mk1 rewrite Emperor Chameleon is the main villain (Since there will be no multiverse plot line) More information about him can be found on this post Mk1 Chameleon. Although not Onaga's son here, he's still somehow connected to the dragon king.
Drahmin is the formal protector god of Outworld and Lord of Air. He used to be Chief God and he worked alongside three other gods, including Shao kahn who used to hold title of God of War. Then Onaga arrived and killed him, usurping his place as Emperor. His soul was sent to the Netherrealm where he was corrupted and remade into a weapon for evil.
I thought it would be interesting if I change Kobra's race to be a saurian, since he's name after a snake. I personally believe we need for playable Saurians.
He still love Kira but is weary of her background, since in this verse Kira is a Red Dragon defector and Kobra is given strict orders to make sure she remains loyal to the black dragon. The Red Dragon are looking to capture Kobra as they need him for their dragon hybrid project. They hired Erron Black to kidnap Kobra but make it look a murder, so the black dragon don't go looking for their Saurian friend.

First things first i don't remember watching the first movie so I went into this watching it as a stand alone movie and it held up pretty well.
The theater was small with no one in it besides myself and one other person.
I brought Shao Kahn figure with me. He thought the movie was mild. But that because he died in it. What a sore loser. I thought the film was great.
I like Kitana in this film and I love the first scene.
Ed Boon Cameo
Karl Urban did serviceable work as playing Johnny Cage, though I wish they had chosen someone else.
Kano is excellent as always and he even joins the good guys.
Kitana Mask animation is bad
noob saibot looks like a cosplayer, clear inspiration from mk11. Speaking of which there were a lot of elements reuse from mk11.
Sindel was undead the whole time minus the first scene where her attempt to fight back against shao kahn. They took the brainwashing root of her character rather then mk11 character assassination. Sindel went down too easily. Shame.
Kung Lao is undead and kills Raiden. Raiden does come back to life at the end. Thankfully
Jax dies.
Cole Young dies. And it was fucking brutal. I wanted to be happy about this, but I wasn't. Somehow this movie made me attached to him then the first film. Maybe it me retconing him as Kenshi. He should have been Kenshi.
Jade is pretty much evil in this film with the exception of a last minute redemption. Which I felt was unearned
I like Baraka. He was one of the good guys. Definitely took inspiration from mk11. Johnny and him are bros
Liu Kang can of dies? and he isn't the chosen one? Kitana is. She killed Shao Kahn and became Queen of Outworld. Another thing taken from mk11. She did the mkx fatality. She was also a double agent the whole time. Been working with Raiden behind the scenes.
They brought back Hanzo. I like Hanzo.
Destroying Shinnok's amulet shouldn't have been the easy.
Johnny cage unlocked his power at the finale fight.
My Kahn coin fic predicted an important story element in this story. Shao Kahn using Shinnok's amulet.
I would give this film a 8/10. Pretty good film with some great action but had some moments that made me nitpick the film.
