Oh! He was a Sami. Hadianna smiled widely and tilted her head. This man must not get to spar much. That was fine; the darknight was more than happy to let him spar with her. Perhaps he would be a good challenge. There was really only one way to find out.

She braced herself before launching forward. Hadianna had never been one to go on the defensive. She much prefered to back her opponent into a corner and wear them down. Now, it was time to see if he was going to let her do that.

Ashley typically didn't look a gift horse in the mouth; less brought on by lesson, more rooted in her, and the stranger's promise of no bloodshed was in and of itself, she thought, a gift. How death can't be wrought remains a puzzle, the plink-plink of her unwitting blinking gaze her only thought-out response. Was he half-beast? comes one question, do those even exist? comes another, and at last: please don't be a half-beast.

"Okay. Yes, thank you for that, please break those rules. Even if that isn't your ideology, please make sure you do that as often as possible, because what do you mean trials to the death are still a thing?" she's, intentionally, neglecting the elephant in the room, or well -- the other elephant. "Great. I'm glad we established that. Onto my next matter..."

A lean back from the room, her head whipping to and 'fro, observing no guards, no bystanders.

"How. Can someone of your," Ashley motions, but doesn't have enough hand to motion the whole of this competitor, her expression--which by now should be relieved--wavering. "Stature not kill someone just by looking at them?"

Reversing, her next words are more babbles, hasty and rattled with nerves.

"Which is impressive by the way, I'm not - downing that at all, I'm just - it's - are you half-beast?"

God. Maybe if she's lucky, he'll break his no killing rule on her.
