I know this is obvious for anyone who’s been in R&L fandom for a while, but the more I get into it, the more I’m, like, in awe about how they’re just two halfs of the same whole. Like, I’ve used that term to describe people in the past, but looking back on it, I was using it incorrectly, because R&L completely encapsulate the phrase.

Idk how to phrase it, but it’s like they’re aware of the other one like they’re an extra limb or something….

Just the small gestures… like Link tucking pieces of Rhett’s hair behind his ear, or Rhett having a running tally of Link’s food preferences in his head, or the way they get exasperated at each other, but with the fondest little smiles…

It’s bizarre in the best way…

I didn’t mean any of that romantically or sexually, even though I DO think they have to be boinking periodically or something lmao.

But that’s separate from the soul mates thing. I *do* believe in platonic soul mates, and I don’t think intimacy is necessarily sexual. It just so happens to be that these guys are 100% fooling around on the DL lmao.

However, I also don’t think they hate their wives/will ever separate from the wives… therefore they would never “go public” with being More Than Friends… that would invite too much scrutiny to their respective wives and family.

First off, my opinions are almost identical! 💜 Except that I do think they want to be open about it eventually, and I think the worry is more about the brand and business.

But yeah the way that they think... Like when they have discussed old age, and the other guy being there or dying together being the default. It's like that relationship is not just solid but un-untangleable. They've been with each other for as long as they can remember and that not being the case is something they can probably barely imagine. Rhett has said so many times that they probably will and he would prefer to die together. When Rhett said Link should die at 75 for his loved ones' sake, Link said that means Rhett wants to die at 76 because he's a year older, and Rhett was like pfft I guess that's true. This is one of the moments that makes me feel like they view each other more as an extension of themselves or something. Because Rhett isn't counting himself in the category of loved ones who won't want to handle old man Link's bs. And then in the end, Link says he wants to live to 91 and wants him to just put him places. So even though Link likes to say he will cope with losing Rhett and that he wants to live longer, I think it's still sort of an unthinkable concept to him.

A lot of wonderhole episodes have a theme of them being trapped together, but sometimes also being kinda content about it. In the future, they were a bit miserable, but content to just chill together alone in their pod and watch movie. Rhett chose to be trapped alone with Link for eternity in a hard drive over the alternative of living normally without him. The whole island thing too, they are alone together and are really not pressed about going home. They are content to play pretend content creators and hump bush together. And the list goes on on that topic.

It's the way that they just seem to be a certainty in each others' lives in every hypothetical and speculation, in a way that seems beyond how even their wives factor in. I guess because they literally don't have memories before each other and they have a fairly Normal loving spousal relationship with their wives. They just are strange little entangled freaks about each other. Even Jessie has joked that Link's Rhett's other other half and that she married half a guy.

And all the little motions and things they say so casually which I can't even think of most of off the top of my head.

Remember Link's trucker couple fantasy? He'd been shown a lot of trucker couples content on tiktok or something and decided that's a future he wants with Rhett. This came up a couple times lol.

There's also this moment. Like. What!!!

There's the saying excuse me/us instead of bless you thing. Which keeps happening. Like at least while they are performing as Rhett and Link, they are one RhettandLink entity.

There's so much on this and so much I can't even think of right now so I should probably stop before I ramble too much lol.

No the movie did not ruin the hatbox ghost. No the ride is not “tarnished”. Yes they are separate universes, the movie never claimed to be the story of the ride, it’s inspired by just like the 2003 film. Ride Hatty is safe and sound and untouched… except at the florida mansion which he now ruins with his placement but that’s managements fault not his.

Bringing this back because there’s such a tendency these days to put down and shit on a movie you personally didn’t like. It’s no longer “meh not my thing” and moving on you have to prove it’s bad and the people who like it are bad? For some reason? Don’t get me wrong, you’re totally free to dislike the new movie and what they did with the hatbox ghost but being needlessly mean about the film? (Not everyone but a good number to prompt a post).

I still can’t wrap my head around people not realizing it’s ok to have a different interpretation over the hatbox ghost. Some people can think he’s the bad guy or could be mischievous— there’s no canon saying he’s that just like there’s no canon saying he’s baby boy baby. It’s fan interpretation! Also… I’m sorry but the idea of Constance being the movie villian isn’t viable. She’s a small kill™️ kind of gal, who does it for wealth and status wanting anything More to be a movie level threat just isn’t her. She has a set up story within the ride where as everyone else is much more up to interpretation… like the age old ghost host debate.

I’m not really weird about twitch streamers asides from like hasan sometimes (but he is a very conventionally attractive person so whatever) but if I had to have a parasocial relationship with a streamer it would be lumberjack2on he is very handsome and polite :-)
