Right now this side blog is going to be a little bit hectic, it’s a place for me to organize my thoughts and ramble a bit about parks stuff. I hope one way I could potentially have a “big” parks based account but that’s for another time.

Im a massive theme park fan in general but Disney world was my gateway, the dedication to theming and all the detail and heart they it into things (used to do this more often) absolutely captures me. As much as I enjoy big coasters and thrills I’ll always be more of a fan of dark rides and old fashioned animatronic shows.

Blog will be hectic for a while, a mix of personal photos I took and absolute essays Inspired by my latest trip. I can’t promise this will be constantly active but I am always open to message.

Going to Knotts for the first time… any recommendations?

Saw Beauty and the beast on tour… sleeper fandom reawakened… god

After seeing the tour of Aladdin and Beauty and the beast, I noticed something interesting between the two. It sparks mainly from altering for stage and making some of the side characters hard— while Batb cuts down Chip’s stage time, Abu, Raja and even the carpet are almost entirely gone. However I do like some of the updates, side characters isn’t actually the point but contribute to it.

Because of this, Aladdin plays up and Batb plays down. By that I mean goes for the older audience v. Younger/full family (not that both aren’t a G/PG show)

I think it allows Aladdin to be a bit more serious, dangerous/stakes are clear etc. where as Batb goes for more dance spectacle heavy and a bit lighter despite having action and heavy implications.

Did anyone else notice this? I still love both but I thought it was interesting.

While I enjoy the tour, I can’t help but think of the Disney Dream production of Beauty and the Beast… the puppets, the costumes! and the level of detail is so cool! Especially for such limitations.

I don’t know if this is just the dream or dream class ships? Or if it’s still going on I watched a great boot? Recording? years ago after someone recommended it to me.

Beauty and the beast national tour, rapid thoughts:

Really energetic and cute. The dance breaks are nice, feel very Rogers and Hammerstein but it makes Gaston boarder just slightly on too long.

Madame and Babette absolutely steal every scene they are in, delightfully high energy

Lumiere and Babette being jealous, horny, devoted and really high energy - they’re very French™️

The Beast was fantastic, he felt so youthful? Teenage almost, you could tell he got turned young— he’s angsty, he’s bouncy, he’s unsure how to move and present himself it was a fantastic performance

The way he moves. The way he sits when Belle reads to him??? And a few times they rest their head on each others shoulder? OUGH

The duck gag with Lefou at the very start will never not be hilarious.

Gaston said “oh 6….7, boys/sons” and stared dead at the audience. Apparently it flew over everyone’s head but that was funny idc

At the ending Madame comes out last and just does a huge “YESSSSSS >:D” and that was a belly laugh

Kinda bummed there’s a lack of food/dining imagery in Be our guest past the start, there’s some plates and forks but by the second break mainly colors

Towards the end Lumiere says “my prince” and it’s an arrow straight to the heart and lives rent free in my mind.

Rip Jean-Claude he is now a wall. Just straight up the wall.

I like that the Servants clothes at the end are distinct from their inanimate costumes, the colors still align and feel distinctly them but it’s not just the same costumes minus a piece or two— I don’t think I’ve seen this before and I love it! Quick change 🗣️

“A change in me” is completely unnecessary as a song and would be fine with just dialogue, this with some dance breaks — I feel make the end (and act 2 as a whole) a SPRINT - like I said before Gaston spawns out of the mist, throws hands and then confetti canons - shows over

A change in me on top of not being needed, as we get all of it through the story itself or things Belle already says— also just feels sort of the same as “Home Reprise”

I know there’s a mirror but Chip’s cart is still really cool

So I saw some of the updated Grand Floridian rooms and they look classy but incorrect. They lack the same old feel elegance that it’s supposed to. It’s supposed to be a classic style resort it was made to be out dated but now the rooms are gray, the lights are white and there’s vinyl instead of carpet.

Thunder mountain refurb proving yet again Disney could make and update original attractions if they wanted to…

I know there’s not really an active theme park community here, or if there is I haven’t found the right tags yet but it’s worth a shot.

I’ll be going to Disneyland for the first time this summer and I have a dairy allergy… the food options are not looking great for me. Disney world has been the best experience as someone with an allergy so it’s sort of devistating to find the other park isn’t as accommodating, at least when it comes to alt snacks?

I’ve figured it out… these resort updates are for the minority who think they’re “forced” and “obligated” to take their children to Disney and think that all of it is a skin peeling experience…

My question is why are we catering to these people when like

1. They don’t have to go no one is forcing them.

2. There’s usually a Marriott, four seasons etc nearby like genuinely what’s stopping them from staying there?

Ok it’s been confirmed we will be going to Disneyland this summer!!!! Pls give me your recs some of my must dos are Great moments with Mr. Lincoln, Storybook canals, Tom Sawyer island, Indiana jones and Roger rabbit

Any tips as well would be greatly appreciated as a Disneyworld goer

Now that I’m thinking about it… why is this new Bluey stage show/celebration area at Animal kingdom? Would it not make more sense to be a part of the Disney Jr party and Animation court yard at Hollywood studios?

Like why are we having 60 billion villains projects across the parks. Why are we doing a lower quality but more expensive Little mermaid show?

Why are we taking over the conservation area for this? Cmon now

I think the other thing about Disney being in its “live action remake” stage is that they forgot Disney used to make like… good live action movies? That were original or non remakes of their own stuff like the 50s/60s Disney live action era was like a huge portion of a lot of people’s childhoods? Idk it’s like—- Disney is absolutely capable of good live action, or used to be.

However it’s now in a self consuming cycle I can’t even call appealing to nostalgia as they don’t even try there either, which is evident especially in their theme parks ripping out and stomping on any non IP or non modern based thing. Like this is so ridiculous of me but there was a bathroom redesign on Main Street that is so violently “2020s trad wife does vaguely 1910” that I wanted to puke.

Like they’re capable. They used to be….

Anyways I am going to see Hoppers because I think I’ll get violent if we ever get to Toy Story 7

Does anyone else feel like Disney world found projections and tv screens , realized they could use them on rides and then stopped putting in any fucking effort.

I was on the Ariel ride and the line was actually more immersive than the ride.

Spaceship earth has such amazing animatronics, they actually creeped me out- where the hell is that effort now?

For the amount they make people pay and for all they boast about creativity and innovation; it’s lackluster at best.

I was a Disney kid, I’ll always be a Disney kid but I think they need to fire their current imagineers or something. Idk who died, maybe it was the only singular person who could make decent animatronics but please , someone, hire a new guy.

Also, for fucks sake, cover the scaffolding in the ceiling. No want wants to see that, I want to be immersed, not see bars and lights and shit
