4: name three authors that were influential to your work and why.
um...rick riordan, for one. i talk a lot of shit about his books now but he literally got me started writing and he influenced me a lot stylistically, especially when i was in middle school and early high school. so i owe him a lot. also jonathan stroud, who a) is worldbuilding goals and made me fall in love with the idea of morally gray characters and b) i got to meet in person and when i mentioned i wanted to be a writer someday he was so incredibly encouraging and kind. and erin morgenstern, who is descriptive goals!
13: hardest character to write
i already answered this for kh, but...uh, also with ff fic, i guess, pretty much all of the turks. i’m working on a thing now which heavily features elena and i am Suffering.
26: story you’re most proud of
actually one i haven’t finished yet! but the thing i’m working on that heavily features elena, which i ramble on endlessly about on twitter as “the tifa fic,” is something i’m really proud of, even though it’s a wip. it’s a huge challenge and it’s also so amazing to be allowed to play in eileen’s sandbox and help make her idea a reality.
44: do you write linear or do you write future scenes if you feel like it?
PFFF, i don’t write linear at all. i used to, but for the last year and a half i’ve been skipping around and writing whatever scenes i feel like i can at the moment. all of my wips have cuts in them that say something like [bluh] or [i’ll finish this later] or [fuck this scene with a rusty shovel].

4. Name three authors that were influential to your work and tell why
Audrey Niffeneggar. She is one of those authors who always manages to use *exactly* the right words. She doesn’t use more than she needs to, and she strings them together in a way that just crawls inside of you, and gives a voice to all those things you feel and can never quite articulate. (”He never realized, while Elspeth was still alive, the extent to which a thing had not completely happened until he had told her about it.” DOES THAT GIVE YOU CHILLS? THAT SHOULD GIVE YOU CHILLS.) The Time Traveller’s Wife also really hit me on a personal level when I read it, and is a book that has stuck with me and I imagine always will. Clare and Henry’s relationship has a huge influence over the way I see Squall and Rinoa, and Niffeneggar’s gorgeous prose is something I aspire to.
Charles de Lint. He was my introduction to the ‘urban fantasy’ genre (even though I think that would probably be classified more as ‘magical realism’ now), and I’ve really come to love that genre, and play around with it, especially in the original writing that I do.
Neil Gaiman. I know, I know. But his blending of myth and fiction is incredible. Smoke and Mirrors was one of the first things of his I read and one of the short stories in that collection still haunts me. Niffeneggar influences me in terms of how to draw from my own emotions, but Gaiman reminds me to see stories in everything.
24. Favorite scene you’ve ever written:
I feel like I should answer from a one-shot this time, but there’s one other scene, about halfway through The Successor, that I was always really proud of. Squall and Rinoa are lying in bed talking about…well, the main conflict of the story, and the conversation turns to their relationship, and how much of it was the Sorceress/Knight bond and how much was just them. And then it ends with feels. But I always thought that scene was very tender, and touched on something that I think in any setting is important to them–this unspoken question they’re both too afraid to ask.
42. Do you plan or do you write whatever comes to your mind?
Usually whatever comes to mind. One-shots especially are not planned–they usually come to me more or less fully formed, I just have to figure out the right words. My chaptered stories I will make rough outlines for–not details (I tried that once–it didn’t end well), but the major plot points just to help keep me moving in the right direction.
47. How many unfinished ideas/stories are you working on at the same time?
Too many. I have four WIPs on ffnet–one of them is really old and was short to begin with and I know I can finish in a chapter if I just pick it back up. One I was trying to write a full rough draft of and then post as I edited. I also have two stories I haven’t posted anything from yet–one I haven’t touched in years but played off of the Squall is dead theory, and the other is a Seifer and Quistis piece in the Successor verse. I also will get ideas for one-shots and start those and have them fizzle out a few hundred words in, but I don’t delete them just in case. I have more of those than I could honestly count. Plus an original story I started for NaNo years before last I haven’t worked on since, but I think about at least on a weekly basis (and actually told a modified version as a bedtime story to my daughter today), and do occasional research for it.

Daww thank you!
12. favorite place to write - typically not in my house. I can edit and stuff there if need be, but I like to go out and sit down at a quiet cafe to get my writing done. I especially love it when it’s raining out. That plus a good cup of chai and some headphones on makes for a great writing session. I really can’t write anywhere that’s loud and super busy. It’s really distracting.
14. easiest character to write - a tie between Celes and Setzer. I’ve been writing both of them for some time now, so they both come super naturally to me :3
26. story you’re most proud of - right now, I’m the Darkness, You’re the Starlight. It started out as a oneshot idea I had back in college, but I was too scared to write it. Then over time, I kept adding “what if” things around it, both before and after that one scene. It got to the point where I had to make it a huge novel-like story. And... well, I did it! Wrote it all, edited it several times, and now it’s getting posted to AO3 :D it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I’m super proud of how the story’s evolved along with how I’ve grown as a writer because of it. Of my oneshots, I’m really proud of both May Death Find You Alive along with And I Will Follow You into the Dark.
10 24 27 28 for the songs
10. A song that makes you sad: ‘After the Storm’ - Mumford and Sons (this is admittedly because this song was kind of my main theme for ‘The Successor’)
24. A song by a band you wish were still together: ‘Poison and Wine’ - The Civil Wars
27. A song that breaks your heart: ‘Caves’ - Jack’s Mannequin (for two reasons–the first, is how perfectly this song fits into the fic ‘Somewhere in Between’ by Ashbear & Wayward. Seriously. If you’ve read that fic, go listen to this song because it’s painfully appropriate. But also because of the ACTUAL meaning behind this song, which was the frontman’s struggle with cancer. This song destroys me.)
28. A song by an artist with a voice you love: ‘10,000 Days’ - Tool
Tell me about your day and rec me some fics, please?
Why thank you <3
My day so far is doing alright. Happy to have a three day weekend! I’m just chilling, sipping on tea, working on some Overwatch graphics (hoping to get them done in a couple of hours ;) stay tuned), listening to tracks on 8tracks (this one right now). I was going to see X-Men: Apocalypse today with my sister and brother-in-law, but a) the reviews are really deterring us and b) my sister has to do work this weekend :( I’m hoping to visit my boyfriend in the hospital, too, if not outright bring him home.
And fics!!! :D I have a plethora of fics I really love. I’m usually reading a bunch of multichapter ones on top of oneshots. I actually hope to sit down this weekend and go through a bunch which are in my mark for later list. So here are some of my faves:
Everything and Nothing by @dvske - If you’re familiar with Transistor, this is a post-canon story centered on the Camerata in the Country. There are so many fics circulating on how lovely the Country is, but this one makes it out to be very bleak and empty. Asher-centric and goes through his own struggles on top of the groups struggle to find peace within the Country. Super feels inducing. Hell, I’d reccomend it even if you haven’t played Transistor. She writes super well and is one of my favorite writers of all time.
The Modern History of Zelda by @pocketseizure - I still can’t get over how good this fic is. I don’t even ship these two and it’s hands down one of my favorite fics. You don’t even have to have played the Zelda games to get it, but knowing the overall themes in the games is a plus. The world building is spot on and I love how the magic is dealt with. It truly is a treat! And their other works are just as amazing! I’m quite fond of After the World Was Won, a post-canon Setzer/Darill centric fic about what if Darill actually lived. Considering I’m not a fan of the “Darill lives” theories, the fact I love this one speaks leaps and bounds of how amazing it is.
Black Swan by @h34rt1lly - This was the fic I spent late nights reading. It’s an amazing post-canon Quistis centric fic with a good dose of Seifer/Quistis. Lily writes Seifer so damn well and the tension between these two is delicious ^_^ I laughed, I cried, I gasped, and more throughout this fic. My only complaint is that it eventually ends and there isn’t any more :( I do hope she does write more Seifer/Quistis in the future!
Surrogates by @lunamanar - Luna’s Squall is hands down my favorite interpretation of him. And it’s rare to find one with him and Edea/Ultimecia, especially nestled into mid-canon goodness. I love all of her works, but this one haunts me in the best way possible. I literally didn’t want this piece to end.So if you want something leaning more on the messed up/darker side of things, you should definitely read this. It’s pretty damn awesome and I’ll forever flail pom poms for Luna if it means she writes more stuff that’s just flawless.
Also, fics I’m currently reading:
Northern Lights by @the-queen-of-sevens - which I swear will take me a year to read, because I enjoy reading this like one sips a delicious wine.
Beyond the Vault by @farfromdaylight - which she’s FINALLY POSTED :D seriously, she’s been working on this since I started on I’m the Darkness, You’re the Starlight and I’m SO PROUD OF HER for putting it up on AO3 finally!
A Game of Castles by @pocketseizure - I could probably plow through this in an afternoon, but I don’t want to because it’s so good and I never want it to end.
compromise
Hmmm… this one’s tough without going into specific details. I suppose I’ll never compromise my health for the sake of a job. I lost a job once because my mental health wasn’t good and I never want that to happen again (bonus points being that I loved that job and wanted to make that a career). My last job got too damn stressful to the point I was making myself physically sick almost daily, so I found another one.
And thank you for asking ❤
For the OC meme: 6, 15, 21
I actually had to go searching for the page this was on!! daaannng.
6: Does your OC have a realistic image of their own intelligence?
In some aspects, she does. If it's in relation to her degree and field of work, she feels confident in her knowledge and current abilities. There are times when she feels incredibly stupid but I think we all have those days. The days where "I can't brain today. I have the dumb." pop up. There are things she doesn't know, and for the most part, she's okay with that.
15: Does your OC consider themselves a good person?
For the most part, yes. There are times when she feels horrible about past experiences, or thinks on things she could have done differently. She tries to see things from other's point of view but sometimes, it doesn't work. Then she feels selfish in her actions.
21: Does your OC hurt others often intentionally? If yes, how?
No. If someone gets hurt, accidentially, she feels horrible about it. If she had to intentionally hurt someone, there's a reason behind it. Usually a really good one.
