One Cool Thing 1
One Cool Thing about being excult (or ex christian in my case) is that I can finally take ownership for my accomplishments.
Like, before, whenever you got a job or someone survived an accident you had to say “oh, well, glory to god.” or “He blessed me with this,” or “praise the lord.”
But now it’s like, “No! I busted my ass and got up out of bed even though I didn’t think of it and went out and faced my fears and handed out resumes. I showed up to interviews. I worked hard and got that job.”
No one told me to. It wasn’t some act of mercy. I did that! That was me!
And! On the flip side, you can also say that disasters aren’t the result of god. Sometimes, you didn’t do anything wrong and it was out of your control. No all-powerful being is trying to punish you. Sometimes, it’s just the result of a dumb choice in life. Learn from it, and move on.
